Re: Lower door blade
I had an issue with my passengers side door blade. The steel strip that was inside it for rigidity I guess, started rusting badly and lifting blade away from door. My assumption was due to salted roads in England where car was from. Don't know why Audi didn't use stainless. New blade from Audi was ...

Re: Emissions light after cat delete
Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to go with the remap option. Spoke to the tuner, who said they expand the range in the computer to effectively delete the fault and the sensor will then read correct to the cpu. A map will give me the option to improve performance as well and I'll get it o...

Emissions light after cat delete
Need help with orange emissions light on dash which has come on after cutting out rear cats and exhaust work. Local garage (not Audi) deleted light but it came on again. They suggested soldering a resistor between appropriate wires on O2 sensors to fool computer into thinking emissions OK. Anyone tr...

Alternator Issues
Had the wagon in the shop, due to noise with alternator belt drive. Been advised I need a new alternator, as it looks like the bearing has gone. New alternator ex Germany is NZ$1000, about £600. Anyone here had theirs apart and know if its possible to replace bearings. Im being told its not, which s...

Re: Advice on changing from Drc to coilovers!
Nice one getting the job done. Yep, I spoke to a mechanic before I did mine who said the way you did it was possible also. I always like to find the most difficult way to do things, hence the heat treatment. Same result in the end. I've had my coilovers in a couple of weeks now, and loving the newfo...

Re: Advice on changing from Drc to coilovers!
Just done mine and only real difficult bit was the 10mm bolt holding both the upper arms to front steering knuckles was seized. Yes bolt needs removing to drop the upper arms. Knuckles are cast aluminium alloy and needed heat and crc to work bolts loose. Keep flame away from rubber boots on rod ends...

Re: My car is eating alternator belts!!
As far as im aware there was only the one engine version fitted to RS4s - the BNS. Possibly different for the American market? Someone else may know. The BAR version with lower output fitted to the Q7. Unsure of version used for the first R8s. BAR and BNS versions both have identical idler pulley de...

Re: My car is eating alternator belts!!
Theres also an idler pulley above the tensioner on the drive. Uses same type bearing. Idler pulley also same size/part number as tensioner pulley. All RS4 BNS code engines should have the idler pulley on them.

Re: My car is eating alternator belts!!
Yep, im still shredding belts. Onto 3rd or 4th now Slight whine under bonnet, intermittent dependent on rpm. not normal. Had tensioner out...again... and think the bearing has been spinning on tensioner seat. Looks shiny on 1 side and definitely not a nice interference fit as it should be. (I used t...

Re: My car is eating alternator belts!!
Yep, ive been having dramas with my tensioner too, see previous post. Squealing noises and shredded 1 belt recently. Replaced belt and noticed play in tensioner pulley. Replaced bearing, but still play. Bearing ok, but looks like it has worn its seat on tensioner. Will replace tensioner with new and...

Re: Sods law strikes again! DRC replacement time!
Agree, the DRC is a nice ride, but prone to failure in early B7s. I just want a sound setup that is reliable. I dont have an issue with the next owner, as I'm not planning on selling the car anytime soon. Oil cooler and pipes were last years expense.

Re: Sods law strikes again! DRC replacement time!
Yep, my DRC went recently. At around 90k miles. KWv3s going in. I got a mate with a hoist in his garage at home, so will have a go at fitting them myself. Anyone know a link to a good .pdf anywhere on the web with step by steps? Looking at it, rears look relatively easy, right front has the ecu over...
