To clean the laser you need to pull the navi unit from the dash and then use a cotton bud and alcohol (medical - not Vodka !) down the access hole in the top of the case.

Maybe better/less effort to try a cleaning CD first ?

RE: Re: Update for Sat/Nav+

I had a similar issue recently. It would read my old disc, but not my new one.
I fixed it when I pulled the navi unit and cleaned the laser. It's been fine ever since.

Might be worth a try...

RE: Xenon headlamp self levelling ritual...

Cool. Thanks for that.
I had some issues on my Passat W8 which I thought I had sorted with VAG-COM - this info confirms I have ;-)

Thanks again

Xenon headlamp self levelling ritual...

If some out there (with factory xenons) is bored and fancies an excuse to spend 10 minutes in their car playing with their headlights, I have a request... Can you please take notes of when the self levelling ritual kicks in ? Options are: 1/ lights off, turn ignition on 2/ lights on, turn ignition o...

Activating Cruise Control ?

Anyone done this ? I see you can get the parts from VAG-Parts for around £50, so is then the only thing required the simple activation of the function on the ECU using VAG-COM as per the instructions... Activating Cruise Control on a new ECU (DBW): Factory fresh ECU's often come with cruise control ...

No, it is not a +CAN interface. That is only required for the very latest models though (ie, Golf 5)

FS: VAG-COM Hex lead with USB adapter

VAG-COM Hex lead with USB adapter This is all you need to get full access to the VAG-COM software and functionality from any computer it is installed on. No licensing required - the key is in the hardware. As well as fault finding, this can be used to log performance statistics as you drive - obviou...
