Re: front brake pad recommendations

If you still have old OEM discs, could you measure thickness of the brake disc bell - where wheel bolts through disc to hub?

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

So far, so good. No error codes. Smooth idle. Still got the brake light to sort out. At some point I've got to look at the door microswitches - but I'm having a weekend off this weekend. My other projects have lapsed - finish fuel injection conversion on Lancia Montecarlo, replace some rotten wood i...

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

I've removed and reseated the airbox. Agree its a somewhat flawed design as all the physical fixings are at the front, and the important end relies on two rubber seals. Anyway, its improved idle and on the short test drive, seems to have improved drivability - but will wait for a longer test drive l...

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

I'll pull it off and try again.

The seals looked to be in good shape, but I may get some replacements.

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

Drove car home and into work this morning. CEL came off during the journey to work. I also logged various things, but not examined the log file yet. Interrogated error codes: 17535 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult) P1127 - 002 - System too Rich - Intermittent 17537 - Fuel Trim; Bank 2 (Mult) P1129 - 002 - ...

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

Recoded key and now they're being recognised. Another test drive. Throttle response at low revs after a stop poor - eg entering a roundabout. Better when gearbox in sport mode. Fine at higher RPM. Wondering which channels to log on VCDS whilst driving to try and work out whats going on. engine speed...

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

Today. - a/c system seems to have fixed itself. - couldn't see anything wrong with the brake pad warning wiring - plenty of pad material. No visible damage to the wiring. - Ground off the knobbly bits with a battery powered angle grinder, then neatened up with Dremel. - Comfort module is totally dry...

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

The throttle calibration is more of a low speed thing. It feels as if its wanting to pull slightly at low revs. Almost akin to over enthusiastic 'creep' from an automatic gearbox. Engine cooling appears to be normal - its getting hot, heater's producing heat. Coolant level is fine. Unless this is co...

Carpet in passenger side is dry, although that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

Will be checking fuses to see if the central locking and interior lights. I think they share a common fuse.

A/C - I'm hoping I forgot to plug it back in or it didn't make proper contact. even if it means dismantling front again :bash:

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

I took the car for a 20 minute test drive and have the following gremlins to find and evict. - yellow brake warning light - which I think is either brake pad thickness warning or brake fluid level . Both are fine, so its a wiring glitch somewhere. - central locking system has stopped working, both r...

Re: front brake pad recommendations

Car is back on its wheels again ready for tyre man to come round tomorrow. Car appears to have a yellow brake warning on dash, so need to check this out next. Is there anything else that can trigger it apart from front pads and low brake fluid. Gut feeling is poor connection for the front brake pad ...

Re: Brake servo assistance - or lack of it

Well - after being able to work weekends, and in daylight only, and having a few prior engagements, job is finally done. I could have done it much faster if I was working indoors - it was -1 most of today, but I wanted to take my time. Brake pedal feels good and idle is smooth. I'm going to annotate...
