Re: What are people looking at next?

So the B8 RS4 was my first real performance car and I'm looking at why to do next...as I'm sure a lot of the longer term owners on here are too... I'm not over enamoured by the styling on the B9 4 or 5, so pretty much writing that off. Have driven the m4 on roads and finding like the package. Have ...

Do you mean their "x-pipe" or full system (or both?) please?

Exhaust flaps don't work like the internet would make you be

Fascinating. i've plugged them under the boot floor, and the increase in noise is very modest, almost bugger all really. And I can't say I've noticed a drop in mpg as a result of this. I found the same, no difference in noise (I always run in dynamic/sport anyway) for me so I reverted to default. E...

Re: Deano's B8 RS4

Another little tweak. I plugged the vacuum input for the exhaust valve actuators. I'm much happier. It's sounds as it should now all the time. In order of noticeable difference: - Rumble on let off and the up and down shift farts and blips between roughly 1k and 4k are much more noticeable - exhaus...

Re: What car to sit alongside your RS4?

Basically yes, although I use it more than most Ferrari owners perhaps. When it's just me or me and one passenger, I'll take the 458 unless the parking at my destination is especially problematic. The RS4 is the everyday family car though, and perfect for that in my opinion.

This is mine:

... a bit more extreme perhaps, but makes a great companion to the RS4. Both are the last of the high revving NA V8s in their respective families also :)

Re: Track day

I did run higher in the back but you can't beat the laws of physics (heavy car, heavy front engine) ultimately. I started off increasing the pressures significantly (to 44/46), which was great slippery fun but far from quick! Settled on 38/40 (which is what I run on the road) in the end.

Re: Track day

I attended a track day with my car at Bedford Autodrome today. It was a lot of fun, despite the fact that the RS4 clearly isn't the ideal track car. Understeer was very much the order of the day, but I still had a blast sliding the car around :)

Re: Track day

Fair enough. On the other car forums I frequent I can express an opinion which others may disagree with without it being called "daft" or "ridiculous". I find that more pleasant, you may see it as having a thin skin!

Re: Track day

(If you have ceramic brakes I'd forget it, bearing in mind the potential replacement cost.) One of the most ridiculous quotes I've seen in a while What the point on having ceramics if your scared to track with them! That's what they are made for ! You'll never run out of steel brakes on the road No...
