Re: Just bought RS4 and using 1 litre of oil in 70 miles HEL

I think it really depends on whether your oil is leaking or burning. Do you get a lot of blue smoke under acceleration? I would expect there to be a lot of smoke if you're using a litre in 70 miles. Have a check and see if the oil is leaking. But be careful about letting the oil light come on. My ca...

Re: A very poorly RS4

Afternoon everyone, Well I've bought an engine, now i just need to find someone to fit it. Revolution were my first port of call. They have quoted me £2500 to do the swap, i know they're top class but that kind of money is A LOT for me. Does anyone know of anywhere else they'd recommend? Cheers James

Hope you get it all sorted soon tho.

Re: A very poorly RS4

Found another engine now, for 2k, with 60000miles on it. Phoned Revolution to see how much they'll do the engine swap for me. So hopefully i'll be looking at around 3-3.5k total bill to get it back on the road. Much better than the original 10k for the rebuild! I miss driving my car so much!

Re: A very poorly RS4

Found the engine on ebay, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-AUDI-RS4-B7-4-2-V8-ENGINE-AND-GEARBOX-COMPLETE-BREAKING-BNS-CODE-/151285423618?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2339505e02 It actually has 62k on it, as opposed to the 50k I was told on the phone (and the 30k in an earlier post). ...

Re: A very poorly RS4

Just an update on my car. Phoned Vee Dubs in Newcastle and they are going to fit the engine for £1000 max, and also going to look at 02 S3 as part exchange. The new engine has 50k on it. So looking at 4.5k total, hopefully with 1.5k off for my S3 (hopefully!), so total cost will be 3k. Going to take...

Re: A very poorly RS4

Who would spend 10k on a repair? Someone on here a new engine fitted by Audi a couple of months back wasn't that 12.5k? He had most of the cost covered by Audi ? They'd only entertain a claim if there was a fully documented main dealer history, most here don't value that 4 rings stamp in the book t...

I feel for you. GL man

Will do. Heard good things about Unit 20.

And cheers for the sympathy. Euromillions tomorrow, a little win would go down very nicely now. Ha

Re: A very poorly RS4

And the suspected piston (or possible pistons) were at the back, closest to the timing chain.

Re: A very poorly RS4

He put Vagcom on and no timing or misfiring errors came up which I thought was strange considering hiw ruined it sounds. Only the couple that I have had before: O2 sensor and starter motor relay fault. Both unrelated obviously. Will definitely get other quotes. Will give Revolution a ring tomorrow f...

Re: A very poorly RS4

Right, a sad update follows: Had a guy come up from York to look at the car. Noise is coming from a piston. Have been told it's an engine out job, which will most likely require a rebuild. Quick estimate of the top of his head will be "*hopefully* under £10,000". Felt like vomiting right in his face...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD8uoPnpxp8 There's a short video. In short, it sounds like a rough diesel. ...Ignore the heavily worn 'S' button. Ha. Blimey that does sound rough and nothing like the normal chain noises. (you sure somebody hasn't swapped your V8 for a Transit engine?) I was drivin...

Low oil light.

The oil pressure light never came on.

To me, it sounded like it was coming from the top front of the engine, behind the radiator. Would this be around the cam chain tensioner area?
