Re: Coolant leak from radiator or oil cooler
I’m based in Hastings, East Sussex. Any decent specialist garages you know down here? I’m currently using a VAG specialist in Pevensey https://www.qstuning.com/ http://camspeconline.com/ there used to be an ex Audi MasterTech there called Stuart, but I believe he has moved on and possibly set up on...

Cut the nut!!
Even if you have to buy a Dremel just for the job, its a hell of a lot cheaper and easier that buying and fitting a new cooler.

Re: Anyone in Ireland?
I’m beginning to think the ferry journey and drive down to see my old mechanic is the better option. I trust him and there’s a lot to be said for that.

Re: Anyone in Ireland?
2400 euros for an Audi dealer sounds about right. Assuming that includes the waterpump and thermostat. Yes they are included. It’s done less than 5000 miles since last belt and water pump etc so was wandering whether to get the water pump done again? I’m just not sure if I trust them to do the job ...

Re: Anyone in Ireland?
Guess a ferry trip to Unit20 is a no go? My old RS6 went to Ireland, but I don't know who the new owner uses. That was such a great car. I'm pretty sure I saw an advert over here with your car on it. Are you in contact with the new owner by any chance? Audi Dublin just got back to me............ €2...

Re: Anyone in Ireland?
My best mate is from Portstewart so would be an excuse to see him next time he’s back at his folks.
I’d be interested to see what you think of them and how much they charge for the belt etc.

Anyone in Ireland?
I moved back to Ireland 5 years ago. The cambelt is now a year overdue, although it’s only done 5000 miles since the last one. I can’t find any independent specialists so I thought I’d try Audi Cork. I was told they don’t have the necessary tools and none of their ‘technicians’ have ever done one! I...

Re: Cost of filling up ?
When I bought mine about 9 years ago, I had to stop off on the way home to fill it up....... €115!!! Boy did I get a shock. I remember thinking have I bitten off more than I can chew.
But 9 years on I still love it, just can’t afford to tax it now I’m in Ireland.

I've always wondered what the UK yearly "fixed" costs are for these cars compared to ours (NZ). e.g (in NZD) annual: 'rego'/registration $110 WOF/warrant of fitness (MOT) ~$50 That's it. I'm excluding insurance, for which I've got Classic full cover @$206 annually. What are the equivalent UK costs,...

A relatively straight forward fix and a bargain of an OE part....... the things that don’t often happen!!

Re: Catastrophic oil leak
Agreed. My plan as it stands is to remove both sections of hose from the oil filter all the way through to the cooler. Then go to a local hydraulic company which there will be loads and have two sections of braded hose made up to go the entire length from the filter housing to the cooler getting aw...

Re: Catastrophic oil leak
Looks like someone bodged it before! I’m sure you’re aware there’s been plenty of talk on here recently about those hoses and unions corroding. There are a couple of different fitments/OE part numbers so make sure you order the correct one for yours I’d say the oil cooler unions/hoses are the No.1 i...
