thanks for the reply shoppinit the codes posted are from VAGCOM and i asked the garage to get the reading at idle and 4k but apparently the righthand bank has no readings at all at idle or 4k ?! assuming they are checking correctly. the codes at last, miltek system fitted with race cats so I assume the last 3 are related to that?

Once again many thanks for the direction on what questions to ask garage , equipment to invest in and also the kind offer of the diags. I'm going to get some more specific feedback this morning and will post back . cheers FRaz

Ok thanks very much for the replies guys. Was hoping it might be something less dramatic, didn't notice any strange noises or smoke prior to the incident. Do you think it's a definite no no to drive it gently to the specialist? I dread to think how much this is going to cost to rectify!

FON haha I just read up on that, strange rule but i'm going to run with it!!! I'm hoping it's not a turbo as had both replaced under 15k ago, also would you expect some scary noises/smoke before a turbo failed?? Put the car to the VW guy to start with as he was the nearest to my location at the time...
