Re: Engine Out

Engine/gearbox out and back in is between 32-37 hours book time from Audi. That's without any additional work while it's out. As this is normally done because the gearbox needs work, you have to ask the question, what condition is your gearbox in? The refurbishment of the gearbox isn't all that expen...

Re: Bolts anyone??

Sorry to point this out... but... (this is my understanding of it... that's all ;) ) The wheels are centered on the wheel bolt head and recess design in the wheels rather than on the spigot itself. The spigot is simply there to allow you to line up the wheel bolts easily. Once you have torqued the ...

Re: RS6 C5 Turbo rebuilds... DIY?

Deep breath... Ok here goes nothing (well, £318.22 actually!)... I've gone for the Turbo Rebuild Ltd cartridges and will swap everything over myself. I pulled the gearbox off last night so one of the turbos is already off. i have one seized stud that I really don't want to have to drill out but I th...

What are you going to do with the shell? If you can't sell it, that is.
It'll get weighed in.

I've got pretty much everything I want off it.

The yard belongs to a friend so they are free to sell off any of the remaining parts and keep whatever they can get for it.

Re: Downpipes... how big is too big?

Anyone got a video of an RS6 running 3" downpipes, system but with silencers?

I need this van to be sensible to be driven everyday but 3" from throughout from the turbos sounds good.

On my project, I don't have to have a bend straight after the turbo flange, there's nothing in the way there...

Re: RS6 C5 Turbo rebuilds... DIY?

That company you linked above actually sells genuine Borg warner rebuild kits. I've not used them yet as I haven't had the chance to build a k03/04 yet. Only done the TD04/05 which are made by MHI and used mainly on Japanese cars. Oh and I've seen the previous post on the gearbox rebuild. A turbo r...

Re: RS6 C5 Turbo rebuilds... DIY?

I used to the oem CHRA as it was fine to use. Plus you have to be careful as there's a lot of cheap replicas around. So you're better off sticking with oem and updating bearings etc. The hardest part is if you wanna put on bigger wheels as it'll mean machine the turbine/compressor housing. Ok thank...
