Wouldn’t assume that issues would have shown up and been sorted out, DRC is a gift that can give at any time. A main dealer may be able to provide any warranty work, or any paid for repair work should stick out like a sore thumb on the documentation. Or ask for a DRC healthcheck prior to purchase? P...

Checking the (possibly) obvious - the drive select settings for dynamic makes the stock setup 'harder', H&R may not be effected...?

Yes. Without question. Who told him that there were no issues? An R8 Master tec on commission??! I looked at R8's before going for the RS6, but a deciding factor was how well documented most issues are for the 6 so you know what might be coming.
