Re: 8 months in with my dream car...

For the delaminating side trim strips, I originally took them off, re-glued the delaminating part with PL Premium and clamped for about 12 hours. This certainly helped, but you could still tell it wasn't perfect. SO, I broke down and ended up ordering two new trim pieces. A bit pricey, but worth it ...

Re: 8 months in with my dream car...

Thanks all! I'll try to add some more pics of the steering wheel, it is definitely an improvement over the standard North American wheel, and I'm definitely glad I went for it. Now I don't feel like I'm getting behind a bus everytime I step from the GTI into the RS4 (until I started the engine that ...

8 months in with my dream car...

About 9 months ago I was considering my options and getting some owner opinions on whether I should trade my 2012 GTI for an RS4. I received a lot of feedback, and it helped steer me towards the right decision...which was to buy a Phantom Black '08 RS4 with about 57k miles (92k km's). I picked up th...

Why taking my car to the dealership makes me cringe...

Just wanted to get something off my chest and see if maybe my expectations of dealership/garage service are off the mark... This morning I took my RS4 into my local dealership to get an O+F change. Now, to preface this, I usually do as much of my own maintenance as possible (O+F, brakes, fluids, etc...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

Well, Audi checked out the car and they could not find anything amiss. According to Audi Canada technical services, there are no specs for ride height for the RS4 (questionable?) so their guess is that it's just wear. Next option - swap out the springs Left to Right? Alignment?

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

The rear springs are housed about 30cm in-front of the rear shocks and can therefore easily be removed without the need to de-pressurise the DRC. You'll probably need to unbolt the shock from the wishbone but that should be it. Its the fronts that can sometimes require the DRC to be de-pressurised ...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

Well, took the Audi into the dealer today, and they couldn't find anything. They apparently inspected everything possible and checked DRC pressures and everything checked out. So, not sure what to do next. Maybe the LR spring is fatigued and just sagging? Thinking about getting them to just replace ...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

i had exactly the same symptoms as you MFT, the passenger side rear was slightly low and the drivers side front was slightly high. turned out to be a broken rear spring, i had lost say an inch of the coil from the bottom of the spring. I had the same problems on the rear, the first coil of the spri...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

Well, pulled 3 out of 4 wheels off today and took a look at all the suspension elements and no evidence of any leaking from the shocks or anything else amiss. I also checked the part number of the front shocks and it appears that at least the FL is Rev. B (label on FR was too worn to read). So, not ...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

No, nothing in particular in the rear of the car that would weigh that side down.

I'll take a closer look in all four wheel wells tonight and see if I can ID anything amiss...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

DRC pressures ...... 16 bar = Maximum pressure 15 bar – 16 bar = Central valve new or in as-new condition 12 bar – 15 bar = Normal working range; system OK < 12 bar = System leaking or not fully charged; air trapped in system; central valve depressurised/empty. I assume the only way to check the pr...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

Thanks RS4pete. I noticed it last night when it was sitting in my garage, which is level/even. I remember reading that the front will "appear" to sit a bit higher than the rear, so I wasn't too concerned about that, it was more that the height difference was uneven side to side. I don't hear any clu...

Re: DRC Failure symptoms - sagging?

I'm actually in Canada, which had the same recall as the US (till June 30, 2012). Just reaching out across the pond to get some additional input into the DRC failure experience to see if sagging is/was an indicator.

Thanks!
