Apparently, the filters that came out looked standard. I'm not sure if non-standard ones look the same.

Hmm. That sounds costly. I spoke to a gearbox place today who have done many RS6s, they can do a box refurb for £2600 all in. It's noticeably slower in boost. But it was normal in the 40 or so miles before the incident.
It is stage II and I sourced standard filters for it. I hope it hasn't gone and inhaled them....
An unfortunate squeal developed this evening. It is the first time I've heard anything like it outside the sooty and sweep show.
