i bought one off a german shop, www.finest-car-art.de. I was also very skeptical to its quality but it turned out to be really well made, i don't think you could tell the difference, here is an actual picture of mine when it arrived. You can also find them on ebay

i originally bought it for my C5 RS6 but never got around to replace it. It has been removed from a 60k miles car therefore it is in a great condition. Asking price 150GBP.

i haven't either found the option in vagcom to increase the dimming, if it isn't dark enough you can barely notice the lights under the doors carbon trim...you can easily adjust the dimming of the footwell lights through the MMI, which is noticeable, but it doesn't do any big difference to the doors...

i had similar issues and it turned out it was one of the spark plugs and a coil, also carefully inspect the coils harness, they tend to crack at this age and you'll get a short to ground which doesn't comes up on vcds...

the Alcantara was an option on the C6, only on the C5 came as standard.
