Re: Alloygators - yes or no?
Thanks for the pics. I have similar rims, but the satin black finish and their size do a good job of making the Alloygators “disappear” (I went ahead and got them fitted professionally...) - the effect is not dissimilar to a black hole! LOL

Alloygators - yes or no?
I have 20" satin black twin-spoke alloys (RS4 style) on my S5 S/B with black centres and black nut covers, which have all just been refurbed (car has black pack on it, and Quartz Grey, so overall two-tone effect with minimal chrome). Thinking about getting some black Alloygators fitted, as despite p...

Re: S5 S/Back Auto - lack of smoothness
A software update solved the problem over the summer, so everything is much improved.
Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

S5 S/Back Auto - lack of smoothness
Collected my "new" 2010 S5 Sportback Auto (47k) last weekend and have a query about some jerkiness when in traffic. When I'm slowing down to stop in traffic (rush hour bumper to bumper) and going from about 5mph down to 0mph the car doesn't do it smoothly. It feels a bit jerky - not bone shaking by ...

"after topping up with Ultimate I found the car felt smoother and seemed a tad more frugal."
Can you put an approx number on the "frugal"? I'm curious to see if the mpg increase would trade-off sufficiently to cover the price differential?

Re: B6 brake fade ??
I recently needed to replace all my discs (still on originals, with approx 70K miles). I decided to upgrade as i was going to have to "spend a few quid" regardless. I went with Pagid discs and pads all round, HEL braided hoses & DOT5. Total spend (inc delivery & fitting) was <£1k. The Pagids were ch...

Re: Electrical gremlins - help needed!
To all that replied and offered assistance, please accept my thanks & appreciation. The source of the problem was finally traced to the ABS Control Unit after the Dealer worked the car for over a week, and had great chunks of it taken apart (as I saw on several visits to the Workshop) . I had a very...

Re: Electrical gremlins - help needed!
Hi BlingBling, Regrettably I'm not aware of any independant Audi specialists in NI, and the level of diagnostics involved is not within the capability of the guy who does my routine servicing (he doesn't have VAGcom). I'm going in to see the Dealer at lunchtime today to discuss. Let battle commence....

Re: Electrical gremlins - help needed!
Well, the results are in. . . After a week of diagonstics, I was told tonight that they believe the fault is in the ABS Control Unit. Cost of part £1600 (inc VAT), so total bill will be a little over £2200. ?<#%^^|¥¥$[{{#%@?!/(). !!!!! Needless to say I'm not a happy camper. . . but there seems to b...

Electrical gremlins - help needed!
A week ago the ABS & ESP warning lights came on. At the same time the Rear Parking Sensors, Folding Mirrors, Speed-sensitive Steering and "one touch" control for the Sunroof all stopped functioning (the sunroof would still work if you "pressed & held"). Everything had been working perfectly prior to...

Re: Tyre choices for the B6
Hancooks is the way to go - premium tyre but usually cheaper than Contis etc. Always comes very high in the proper tyre tests. I got 4 235/40/18s for £460, a month in and they are better than my old Contis! Due to a problem with the tracking I now have to replace my front two BF Goodrich's (see my ...

Re: MPG - My Personal Best!
I can only say that I'm impressed (and depressed!) by some of the figures quoted above... In 4 years of ownership my B6 S4 does 200 miles in the summer on approx 55/56 litres (I fill up shortly after the warning light comes on, which is usually at 30 miles range left), and 180 miles in the winter (C...

Re: The engine is coming out!!!
Hi all. The beast is back and purring like a kitten with no startup rattle either. Total costs was a tadge under over £5.5K with £1500 of that labour charges. All in all, expensive but I think worth doing. I love my S4 :kissmyrings: and it was worth to give it a new lease of life. Bl**dy H*ll, £550...

Re: Tyre choices for the B6
Don't know what price the Falkens are, but I paid £450 for 4 BF Goodrich last April (same production line as Michelins), and have had no issues with them - wearing well and excellent grip. The S4 came with new Avons which were also fine.
