Re: N. Ireland servicing
If I had the time I would go to unit 20, but I just dont get enough hols to justify a weekday trip. The last service I did myself under a mechanics supervision, and the place that did it before has gone out of business so cant really help ya out with a recommendation. There are a fair few RS4's kick...

Re: N. Ireland servicing
Im from Belfast. I got mine serviced in 2011 at Agnews just after I got it, it was expensive and I wouldnt get it done there again. I have used independents down in Dublin (where I work) since.

Re: MAF issue out of the blue...
The car idles perfectly with the airbox and MAF's removed, and idles like crap with the MAF's in place. What on Earth could be causing this???? Please help! http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=97855 I had similar symptoms recently, turned out to be a vacum pipe that was broken. I must have b...

Re: severe misfire at idle
Its looking good, apparently a bend in somewhere where there should not be a bend was putting pressure on the fan from a certain angle and causing it to not turn freely. Im not too sure on the details but he asked me if the car has had a knock to the front, and it hasnt, so I may have banged or knoc...

Re: severe misfire at idle
Oh dear, well I'll let you all know the damage when I find out! He said the fan just about moves with a very strong push, the signal going to it is fine, so I assume its the unit itself. I think/hope its just the fan but he did say that as it isn't working, he wouldn't know if the control module was...

Re: severe misfire at idle
Check the condition of all of the little vacuum hoses while you are at it. Looks like you have hit the nail on the head without seeing the car again! The guy looking at the car has told me that misfiring issue is now sorted, and it was due to a leak in the vacum pipes. however the fan on the right ...

Re: severe misfire at idle
Thanks again Shop, I have left her in with a VAG specialist here in Dublin who is goin to look at it next week. The mental stress of my RS6 being sick day after day just got too much! Hopefully he will be able to solve the issue and I will report back, I will send him a link to this thread if he has...

Re: severe misfire at idle
Thanks Shop! (I just went round the underground car park earlier!) I will try and get those trim values populated this afternoon, I assume they are held within in the ECU when they appear? Im just thinking due to my laptop battery problem, I might have to drive around a bit first, then plug it in to...

Re: severe misfire at idle
I hope its the same issue! I hope its a small issue!
Have you got VCDS? be interesting to see if your getting the same codes a me.
Aslo, is there a massive improvement in your idle once the secondary air intake finished? (or has the car been warm enough not to engage it since you picked it up?)

Re: severe misfire at idle
Just something I have noticed and thought it was worth taking a video off. At the start the video the car is cold and misfiring like a pig. The Secondary air injection is running is making a bit of a "grindier" noise than it should IMO, but interesting the whole misfiring at idle issue is resolved t...

Re: severe misfire at idle
Ok thanks! now forgive my lack of knowledge but which parameters will I be looking at for the fuel trim? I take it that is not the same parameters as I did originally? I'll take her out for a spin now and run the orignal log when I get back (damm laptop battery) No injectors were unplugged, (I hope!...

Re: severe misfire at idle
Ok, so so I put the box back on with the MAF's, and let her warm up. It wasnt pretty, but when she warmed up, misfire was cured at idle. I thought this is good, lets take her out and see what codes she gets. Did a couple of miles, the problem is not noticeable when driving except when stationary in ...

Re: severe misfire at idle
No I had the ignition off when they were changed.
I will try seating the MAFs without the airbox tomorrow morning!
What is strange if the problem is airflow or vacum related, is that the MAF values when it was missfiring looked normal???
