had similar, ended up replacing the bulbs
not very expensive <£10 from your favourite online shop. very standard audi part.
as per another suggestion well worth taking the existing ones out and check for gunk and give the contacts a scrape until they look shiny and new.

Re: Rustproofing..
yes it did look surprisingly ugly. apparently most cars of this era are suffering like this, when the manufacturers moved from primer/undercoat to a single layer paint. much cheaper but not as long lived. we'll see a lot of bmw/porsche/audi rotting out, perhaps not as dramatically as merc's did. but...

Re: Rustproofing..
interesting. look s like the b8 is as bad as the b7. i've got an b7 with lowish miles, but i've used it in all weathers and underneath it was starting to suffer. a year or 3 along from what your seeing, but it looks like the same sort of tradjectory the work sort of escalated and ended up dropping t...
Re: Offered. B7 RS4 front brake calipers
hi. i'm afraid they are already taken. thank you for the interest
Taken.
i have an old set in the garage. they will need a refurb as they have not been used a couple of years so the pistons may be stuck. hence free to anyone who wants to come and collect them if they are of any use, perhaps for a project of some sort which needs brake calipers. audi put a new set on my c...

Re: Aux Radiators
exactly the same here. had a bit of steam on one side in the headlights, bit of staining from the antifreeze on the rad under torchlight. the coolant tank down a bit but still above minimum. took it to the local garage who confirmed the rads on both sides are leaking, but oddly passed the pressure t...

Re: Goodwood track day. Well, morning
that sounds fantastic.
the shell building gets close very quickly at 130mph into the braking area, and in the damp as well!
nice to see these cars are still holding their own after a few years.
enjoy your feb trip, very envious.

Re: Goodwood track day. Well, morning
congrats, sounds like a great morning out. i've been to goodwood a few times - always in something with the engine behind the rear axle rather than ahead of the front. i've never dared to take the rs4 as its always been summer time and i've assumed that the tires and brakes wouldn't take the heat so...

Re: Front Callipers
got a spare set of front that have been in the garage a year or so they were not sticking but audi said they needed replacing when they did the brake pipes. there were not going to guarantee 100% that they could form a seal when the new pipe was screwed in i'd expect they need a refurb and a cleanup...

Re: Unusual noise from rear on deceleration
hi dont discount a stone or something trapped in the brakes somehow or other. a while back i had an odd sort of whine, only really noticeable on the overrun. and occasionally a soft soft of clunk clunk related directly to wheel speed coming from the rear. took it to the local garage in the village w...

Re: Top speed
if i was going to ever do a top speed run it would of been this morning. found myself on the M69 about 8am. dry and clear, and 3 lanes of almost completely empty straight 3 lane motorway. saw about 2 cars over a mile for 15 miles and no lorries, the road goes Leicester to Coventry so is never full. ...

Re: new engine resonance sort of sound
hi so had a good poke about this morning. i don't think its the normal chain noise, or anything at the back of the engine. i'm pretty sure now that its somehow connected to the oil cooler pipes. if i set the engine to a speed where the noise can be heard using my hi-tech adjustment device (broomstic...

new engine resonance sort of sound
hi wondering if anyone can suggest what the issue might be before i have to drag the car off to be looked over properly by someone with more oil in their veins than me. so its 2007/50k miles saloon. and there is a sort of resonance/whine at certain revs. i first noticed it not long after getting the...
