Brake Pads

My brake pad warning light has just come on for the first time since new. Wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how much pad replacement is likely to cost, and whether this is something that needs to be done at a main dealer, or whether it can be done by an independent or kwikfit type place? Ta!

Re: Launch

I've got a June 2010 S4 Avant and pretty sure there's no launch function. Had a 3.2 TT previously so know how it should work etc and the S4 doesn't do it. Also there's no mention of it in the manual either...

Re: ISOFIX seats

Thanks for the replies guys. I think we'll go for the EasyFix base. That way we can use either seatbelts (approved) or ISOFIX (not approved) to secure :-)

Re: ISOFIX seats

Are 'super sports seats' the standard seats? How would I know if I have them?

Thanks for this. Did you have one of the bases for the Cabriofix, e.g. the EasyFix or FamilyFix? or did you just secure the CabrioFix directly using the seat belt?

ISOFIX seats

Has anyone any experience of putting a Maxi-Cosi base unit in their car? I've got an Avant which has ISOFIX in all the seats apart from the driver's seat, but upon checking with Maxi-Cosi directly, none of their bases are 'approved' for use in an A4/S4 with ISOFIX. I'm assuming this is more of a pap...

I had a look at the existing rear tyre and it's still got around 5mm on it. Given that the new tyre only has 8mm of tread I'm not going to spend another £220 to replace a perfectly good tyre.

The new one is exactly the same spec as the old one (Dunlop Sport Maxx GT)

Have you tweaked your car so that when the trailors or the car knows? It enables the ESP to change it's behaviour, deactivates the reversing sensors. No. It was fitted with a bypass relay, rather than a vehicle specific connection. The reason being that I'm never going to use it to tow anything - I...

Puncture - new tyre advice

Just had a puncture on the rear right. I say puncture, by the time I realised, the entire inner edge wall of the tyre has split from the reset of the carcass :-/ Looks a bit like a spectacular F1 tyre failure. Car has done about 9,200 miles and has the original Dunlop Sport Maxx fitted all round. Wi...

Second go at replying. Thanks for the response. Was that fitting only? Thought the parts alone were £400. Nope. All included. Parts only would have been £220.95 from http://www.towbarsdirect.co.uk It was them who recommended Phil from Auto Security for a home fitting( http://www.cheshiretowbars.co....

May I be so rude and ask how much? Thinking about one for carrying bikes. Bought Thule roof bars and they are a total pain to fit not like the B6 fitment £385. I would highly recommend the guy I used if you live in the North West. Great job. The socket and electrics are completely hidden when not i...

So, phone the dealer this morning and they've quoted £1,197 to supply and fit a towbar. To say I was shocked is an understatement! At least they've answered my questions as to whether or not one can be fitted to an S4.

Looks like Tow Trust detachable towbar is a much more reasonable option....

Re: RE: Towbar on S4 Avant

On the B6/B7 S4's the use of a tow bar is not recommended that is why one was not available. Check you manual becasue this may be the case for the B8 and why there are non available. Thanks for the tip on the manual - will have a look tonight to see if it mentions anything. As for non being availab...
