The biggest cost for me was easily fuel. I spent £5k a year on the stuff and I averaged throughout ownership about 22 mpg as I drove it sooooo softly. The running costs (as opposed to fixing costs) were the biggest reason for moving it on.

MRC put a bloody big cable tie on mine and it worked really well.

Sorry you are quite right. You know I had completely forgotten about that. It happened only twice on damp surfaces coming out of a bend on a gradient so put it down traction but thanks for reminding me! Well my car has sold, fairly quickly in fact but I think mileage and condition helped. A lot of former owners come on and critisise the cars or say what they now have is so much better. £1000 a time. Funny you should say that Dave. In 1992 everytime my Dad's Audi 200 Quattro had a problem it was a £1000 then so at least the increase in fix price has kept below inflation!!! Powerful Audis - inflation beating investments???
