S4 Parts and Accessories
Hi All. I have done the unforgivable and sold my S4 B6 just before Christmas. Rooting through my garage has found quite a few parts and accessories that I bought but did not use. These are listed below and are for sale on the Pistonheads website in the Audi Parts section. OEM Audi S4 Grill Euro Race...

Re: Gearbox/Clutch Rattle
And the answer is? Propshaft knackered. £850 plus VAT plus fitting. Lovely! Causes a rumble when accelerating. Well documented on this and other forums. Who said Audi's are bullet proof. I had a BMW 328 before with 130K (bought it with 80K) on the clock and never had a quibble, apart form a flat bat...

Gearbox/Clutch Rattle
Dear All, I have a small possible gearbox problem with my S4. Just drove back from London on business and when I got home, noticed a rattle in the gearbox/clutch area when the car is in motion. Not a rattle as such but a consistant tick tick tick that gets faster or slower as the revs increase and d...

Re: Rs4 alloys will they?
Hi. Definitely will not fit. Researched this loads on this site and others before I bought some new wheels. Rs4 offset is totally different and can't really be fixed with spacers as the wheels will stick out beyond the arches. You will need to go for some replicas. I eventually went for some 19x18.5...

Re: The engine is coming out!!!
Hi all. The beast is back and purring like a kitten with no startup rattle either. Total costs was a tadge under over £5.5K with £1500 of that labour charges. In all honestly I thought that a main audi dealer would rip me a new one but to be honest Audi Teeside have been exemplary. They have kept me...

Re: Clutch Life?
Hi, Just had my clutch replaced while the engine was out for repairs. Parts are about £800 for new clutch and flywheel plus vat and labour. I would estimate about £1500 all in from an Audi dealership Engine out job I think so that's why it is so expensive. My car is on 98k and has never been changed...

Re: Engine Out Pics
Hi. Thanks for your feedback. I researched this very well before I committed to the spend and I have seen that the plastic cam tensioners seem to be an issue. The strange thing is that the tell-tale signs did not occur, I.e. rattling chains, etc. maybe I was lucky and just caught it before the engin...

Re: The engine is coming out!!!
Hi all. The car has a full service history and I have owned it for two years and have had no issues upto press. The £5200 is all in including all parts, labour for the chain and tensioner replacement and a further £100o for a new clutch and flywheel and includes the VAT. When you consider that Vat a...

Re: The engine is coming out!!!
Right an update. Get the tissue ready. Bit the bullet and instructed Audi to proceed. Engine out and stripped back and they have found that two of the the chain tensioners were knackered and were just about to fail. Been to see them myself and part of one is broken and it was only the mounting bolt ...

Re: The engine is coming out!!!
Hi, Thats the weird thing. The car has been running fine apart from the normal rattle in the morning when you first startup. The car has been missing and when they checked the static timing it confirmed that one of the cams was out by one tooth and warned me that if I continued driving it, the chain...
