Re: I HATE PEAOPLE THAT CAN'T DRIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a 100% non-fault claim in 2012. All costs were recovered from the dickweed's insurance company but my premium went up anyway because, according to my insurance company, people who are involved in one accident are more likely to be involved in another, i.e. I was placed in a higher-risk catego...

Re: I HATE PEAOPLE THAT CAN'T DRIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will probably cost me less than what my premium will go up by next year . Why will yours go up ? You personally claim against HIS insurance, not your own insurance. If you claim through your insurer, then yea, they put it up even though its a no blame claim. I had a 100% non-fault claim in 2012....

Re: Has anyone actually used Tootle?

I've listed a couple of cars with them. Same experience both times: after a lot of initial interest the dealers changed their original offers for no reason at all and tried to backtrack on what they said at the outset. I reported them to tootle who investigated and ended up taking both traders off t...

Re: Anyone had a Golf R

Aren't they mega car thief magnets? I've heard so many horror stories of people being pulled out of these etc. Very nice car but that'd be enough to put me off! There are horror stories for everything. Indeed. The B7 RS4 is quite high on the list. The only car I've ever had any hassle in (attempted...

Re: Anyone had a Golf R

You didn't look to have it mapped? Read this can really help improve it. What did you replace it with? I did consider a map and/or exhaust but the issue I had with the engine was lack of character not lack of pace. Neither upgrade would have helped with that. I replaced it with a B7 RS4 which I had...

Re: Anyone had a Golf R

I had a 64-plate DSG for about 10 months. It was a really capable all-rounder but the engine's complete lack of character got on my nerves after a while so I PXed it a few months ago.

Reasonable time for a dealer to respond

Since PXing my B7 RS4 I've found out that the dealer I bought it from sold it to me in the knowledge that it was missing the tray from the underside of the front of the engine bay. When I informed the dealer of this they replied to say that they'd ordered a replacement from eBay. Unfortunately they ...

Re: Servicing Schedules - All you need to know.

Excellent guide. :) Thank you. Yes, I'd say that the B7 is the same. However the B7 DRC was more un-reliable and went through a few variations before the model ceased manufacturing. So most were replaced and re-pressurised earlier in their life cycle. The Air Con aspect is the same for all modern c...

Re: Where to buy engine undertray

Blimey Bill, you didn't keep the 4 for long. Those big bills keeping you awake at night? Two months to the day. The only car I've owned for less time was my 911 996 Turbo. :bash: Apart from the TPMS nonsense the RS4 was faultless. It was a bucket list car for me: I knew I wouldn't be keeping ...

Re: Where to buy engine undertray

Aha - gotcha. Have you looked into a used tray from a breakers yard? I'd think an OEM in reasonable condition would be preferable to a non-OEM one that's not going to connect up to the brake ducts. Might be a worth a look on eBay if there are any B7'd being broken? I looked for trays on eBay but no...

Re: Where to buy engine undertray

Thanks, both. The problem I have is that I've already PXed the car so I'm loathe to spend £350 (let alone any more than that) on a part for a car that I no longer own. You might ask why I'm bothering at all if I've already sold the car. The reason is that the dealer has done right by me so far and h...

Thanks, Mike. :)

I'm wondering if that first image is a library shot. Here's the ad in full:

If you scroll down you can see a compatibility checker that includes the RS4.

Where to buy engine undertray

I PXed my RS4 last weekend. The dealer sent it to a local specialist for an inspection today. It turns out that the engine undertray is missing. It didn't fall off in the two months that I owned it so I can only assume that the garage who did the last service removed it and forgot to put it back on,...

Re: Servicing Schedules - All you need to know.

Excellent guide. :) Top guide mate, will be paying close attention to this when I’m in the market for a b8. Btw is this the same or similar case for a b7? Thank you. Yes, I'd say that the B7 is the same. However the B7 DRC was more un-reliable and went through a few variations before the model cease...

Re: TPMS Sensors...

I had two of mine refitted (they fell out just after I bought the car) but they fell out again a couple of weeks later. I've now taken them all out, had standard rubber valves fitted and the TPMS is being coded out tomorrow (to get rid of the icon you mentioned). More trouble than they're worth IMO.
