RE: 4.2 increased power outputs
Sorry, I should have read your signature - the JHM stuff is clearly what you have!

RE: 4.2 increased power outputs
JHM in the US do exchange inlet manifolds that have basically been flowed, as far as I understand. As per xyber, reports of increased low end torque abound.

RE: 4.2 increased power outputs
S5 is the same unit but with Direct Fuel Injection, hence only slight increase in hp. RS4 unit has DFI and a load of other changes that I am not capable of listing, but it is irrelevant - withouth DFI you can't make an S4 engine into and RS4 or S5 engine. The thing I have read about the RS4 unit is ...

Don't worry about lack of Bose - it is rubbish in my 2008 S4. I have a 2009 Mazda with Bose that is far better than that in my Audi. My S4 has an OE Ipod adapter in the glovebox where the CD changer would sit. It uses the same interface as the CD changer and is also absolute rubbish. Very poor sound...

Wheel advice
First up, I know nothing about wheels. I have never been interested in fitting aftermarket wheels or anything like that. I am the kind of guy who like his cars to be as they left the factory, for the most part. That said, in a moment of uncharacteristic spontaneity, I bought a B7 S4 with aftermarket...

This stuff: http://www.corrosion-x.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=Rejex_16oz No affiliation, but I have been using it for years. Just coated my S4 after a thorough cleanse, clay and polish and it hasn't looked dirty in weeks. A gentle hose down gets all the muck off. I haven't done my wheels yet as I nee...

Reading this topic with interest as I was thinking about checking my oil level just now - six weeks after last service and seven weeks since I bought the car. I am aware that these engines do use a bit. Am I safe to rely on the oil level light to tell me when I need to worry, or should a visual chec...

RE: Re: RE: Quick question - S4 Tip
Reviving an old thread here... My S4 Tip in D does not want to change into 6th at anything less than about 45 mph. I can override it and knock it into 6th with the paddles anywhere from early 30's and the engine copes fine - plenty of torque in there! Here in Houston 40mph-ish is what the general fl...

I was going to post a question asking about this kind of noise, since I have experienced it a few times in my new (to me) S4. It happens very subtley when pulling away with a lot of lock on (I wouldn't say full lock) but a similar sound/feeling also happens when I turn slowly and sharply onto a slop...

Yep, they have a long way to go with Engine technology, but big understressed engines coupled with changing the oil every other month (as people seem to do in these parts) does get a lot of trouble free miles of motoring. Booked it in for a 15k mile service at the Audi dealer tomorrow. They were abl...

It definitely sounds like an aero engine when gently pressing the throttle from cruising speeds. I haven't really had the room to rev it too much to be honest - very scared of plod in these parts. Radar detector may be on the shopping list soon! Not having to rev it to have fun is one of the reasons...

Thanks chaps. I will head down to the Audi dealer this week - hopefully they can print off the service records too. The OBC reckons it doesn't need servicing for 229 days or 4357 miles, but I might get it in just for them to give it the once over. Learning a bit more about it today. It turns out it ...

New Owner looking for a manual
Hi Everyone, I have just bought a used 2008 S4 in a rather sudden move, but the drive home put a big smile on my face and I am certain it is my sort of car. The major downer is that non of the books were with it - and I am completely lost with a lot of the controls. I fiddled a bit when sat in traff...
