Thanks Ben.Shoppinit wrote:Sounds like the crank position sensor. Quite common failure and symptoms like yours.
Doesn’t give any fault codes. Cranks but just doesn’t fire.
It isn't cranking at all, during that dead zone period, though - turn the key and nada

I’ve had a similar problem to this in the past. The starter was old and suffering from heat soak. Had the starter rebuilt and it’s been fine since. Manually apply power to the solenoid and see if she works, if not then you’ve probably found your issue [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk T...

Odd one...
Would welcome some ideas on how to resolve this one... Electrical issue of some description. Battery and alternator are relatively new and both appear to be functioning fine (based upon the voltage guage). Car fires up fine if sat overnight or left for 45min+ since last use, and also fires up fine s...

Reminds me of the issue found on my spare TCU... surprisingly, it still worked fine, though!

Re: Coolant gone, ok to fire up the engine for 10-20 secs?
To me, sadly, that lovely list sounds like 3-4 years of C5 ownership all rolled up into 1... which would kinda make sense. FWIW, The Phirm have been helping to maintain mine for the past 9(?) years, and always have plenty of older VAGs being worked on (with, no doubt, many 'obsolete' parts). Althoug...

Re: RS decals for front brakes
Ah excellent thanks Nick. Just ordered some. Did you put any lacquer over the top? NP Chris. No, no lacquer. As they provide a few sets with the order, figured I could apply a pair initially, as an experiment, then maybe reapply another set as part of a full refurb in the future (and no doubt lacqu...

Re: RS decals for front brakes
Evening all. Does anyone know where I can buy some RS decals for the front callipers? I’d like some that are exactly the same as the standard ones. My brakes are in ok condition but the decal has faded. Cheers Chris Hey Chris. Details in this thread [emoji106] https://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?...

Re: Coolant gone, ok to fire up the engine for 10-20 secs?
Glad to hear things have improved for you, Nick.
I'd have thought it'd be fine, but would it not be worth adding some coolant to the tank (even just plain water, if it's going to be drained anyhow, as part of the work), just to be sure?

Re: TechNick's Mauritius blue saloon
Much better. How come you’re selling? Thought you were a lifer. Yeah, me too Ben. Several 'personal circumstances' changes. The R8 will be the really tricky one, though, as so niche. The 6 is going on SOR, so I guess there's a chance it may stay a bit longer. I'll obviously never be able to find an...
