After reading Quisha's comments on the American forum about the longevity of the transmission when chipped, I'd say you made the right decision!

They were all about 25-30 quid each. Got them from Audi. DVs were very easy to change. Bit fidly to get the hose clamb on the lower hose, but nothing impossible. How about the brakes? If a brake caliber (or one piston in the caliber) freezes on just a bit, creating an uneven force against the brake disc, thus creating a wobble.

And after a bit of use the calibers get up to "working temp" and the little freeze is gone and *tsadam* no wobble!
