RE: Engine mount fault
and here again, eddie... the engine mounts have electrical pressure sensors built in to register engine torque - if the ecu picks up a fault, it should back off the power slightly to avoid damage - had a car in the other day. two options - the factory have a wiring mod for the A8's which im sure wil...

RE: 16985 - Internal Control Module: Memory Check Sum Error
hey eddie, that "check sum error" is the ecu telling you its in need of an upgrade - preferably factory. go by the dealer and see whats involved. dont know how you guys work there, but in SA (im at the dealer) we flash the ecu with an overwrite from the factory

hey guys, im at the dealer in south africa, and ive actually replaced quite a few thermostats in the last two months on the V8 engines.... the A8 engine is a relatively easy thermostat to gete out (3-4 hours), but the RS6/S6 involves a bit more stripping (7 hours isnt over the top), so either find s...

RE: Re: RE: Idle speed
hey laurie, maybe the engine mount fault is a red herring... ive done yet another rs6 at the shop with high idling issues - replaced the following: seals where airmass goes into intake tubes, o-rings where airmass seals in airbox, ALL vacuum hoses - problem solved!!!!! :D car goes like a rocket!!!! ...

RE: Idle speed
hey laurie, that fault with the engine mount is related to torque. dont think it will affect the idle though, but i know on the A8's, there is a factory mod where a blank off harness is sold to plug into the existing harness, to keep the ecu happy - i think these mountings are a little over-sensitiv...

RE: Fault code
hey paul - solution is simple - your car needs to go to dealer for an SVM (software upgrade) of the ECU. DO NOT replace ECU, as this isnt necessary - im at AUDI dealer in South Africa
