Re: De-coke Done
I've said this before; Log timing (and rpm/air temp/timing correction) and you will see what is going on. Cheers

Re: DIY Carbon Cleaning, now we've started!!!
haaaaaaa that's my work from back in the day! That was when some believed carbon was not a problem. Most have come to realise now that it is, but there are still some non-believers among us ha

Re: £1 per BHP !
Yep, I agree, running the RS4 against others doesn't really tell the story. Same as the 3k-8k rpm test people do. Unless there is a MAJOR problem it's just not going to help. For the record, I keep an eye on timing and timing correction, this seems to be the best indicator I've found if you suspect ...

Re: Revolution Project RS4 - latest updates
Glenn, did Audi agree that the scoring was as a result of carbon entering the bores? Curious as my engine ended the same way. It was replaced by Audi (both heads and short motor) but while many agree it was carbon (mechanics that looked at it) the official word from Audi was "wrong oil"; but not the...

Re: A Query for those technical out there
OK, I need to tidy up the figures and for some reason group 11 and 20 stopped recording but my peak flow at 7920rpm was 153g/s with throttle angle of 99.6 and ignition timing angle of 30. Maximum ignition timing angle was 33. So fairly comparible to yours Mal? Looks like your peak airflow is some 1...

Re: A Query for those technical out there
Log Group 3. It would be interesting to see Groups 11 and 20 also. Click the turbo button. Just set it to start when you pull up somewhere safe, then go and let it run up to redline. Pull up again and press stop. Here is mine as a comparison. It's not technically the 3-8k test (not worthwhile) but y...

Re: A Query for those technical out there
Because your're even across the board I wouldn't worry about it. The compression tester may not be too accurate. Even the length and type of tube to the gauge can play a part. Maybe it wasn't done with the throttle open either? If you are worried get a leakdown test done. Maybe it's tiny bits of car...

Re: A Query for those technical out there
+1 (except I'd say 10PSI is too much. I'd want it within a couple of PSI at most on the same bank).
If something entered my cylinder I'd probably get a leak-down test done. You probably won't feel a slightly lower compression on one cylinder.
Hopefully everything is all good though.
Cheers.

Re: A Query for those technical out there
Wow, now I've seen everything. I would have thought if it was swallowed it would have caused some visual signs of damage. What about the low compression Audi found. Did Revolution do a compression test and found something different? Glad it's turned out this way, and yeah I agree, you must be the lu...

Agree, good result.
It's so weird that some dealers don't seem to want to help but others jump in and do their best. They surely would all get the same support from Audi wouldn't they?

Re: My engine said boom! ouch...
Check if they are the right plugs (heat rating) have been used. When my car was pinging, and timing was pulled back as far as possible, it never actually triggered the MIL or EPC. This seems to suggest if it runs lean (on only one or two cylinders) you'd never know (until it was too late). Maybe you...

Re: A Query for those technical out there
I hope all is well. If you are talking about the little caps, that when popped you can access the flap screws, I also think it would be hard for the engine to swallow one of those (not impossible though if it bounces around on/off the valve). You may have run so lean that Cylinder 1 got VERY hot. Th...

Traction Control relies on the MAF also.

Re: The Revolution Guinea Pig
I would have liked to see a clean engine with original manifold dyno'ed then the PP IM and dyno'ed. I can't understand why you PP an IM and leave the carbon there. I'd say the PP in this case didn't do anything (because of the carbon) and the variation is the slightly colder air temps and higher pre...
