Re: RE: Quick question - S4 Tip
Thanks Shane. I just sent you a PM but I don't think it's gone through. Be really interested in what you find :) We are currently the only company in the UK that can remap tiptronics so shift patterns are improved and the tip shifts at higher than standard revs. Audi "cheated" a bit with the tip B6 ...

My wife has a TT 3.2 DSG (05 reg, same chassis as your A3?), I tested an E46 M3 SMG, then bought an S4 Tip. I also tried a 2000 reg 911 C4, but it wasn't the buzz it should have been, and risky at that age/miles. M3 was a disappointment. Gutless mid-range for a car with such a reputation, and SMG se...

Re: Snow Tyres
I have a spare set of 17" alloys from a B5 A4 and am considering a set of winter tyres. What I would like to know is will these fit onto my B7 S4 avant that currently has 18" rims on. Will they clear the front brakes? If they do, it'll be tight and the only way to be sure is to jack the car up and ...

Re: The use of 245 width tyres on standard s4 8J by 18 rims
I am tempted to go down this route as i believe the extra width wouldfill ou the arches nicely and would also offer a little more protection to the rims (I am not the only person that drives this car) Giles, I don't see the point of doing this. If you're hoping to get an extra 5mm of overhang to pr...

Quick question - S4 Tip
At what revs does your S4 Tiptronic V8 change up? Is there any difference between modes, ie Drive, Sport, Manual, Kick-down etc? Mine shifts at 6,750rpm, despite peak power being at 7,000rpm, and the red line also being at 7,000rpm. I'm not happy about this - I want my full 344PS at 7,000rpm please!...

Ooo! Lovely data! From a real live UK car. Thanks very much for that Matt. Yes, you've got a pipe on it which should raise the levels a bit, but it's the shape of the curves that is so revealing and I don't think an exhaust will have changed that much. First off, I notice your power peaks at 7,100rp...

Re: RE: Power
Yep. It was exactly 350bhp at 6500rpm whilst torque was peak at 305 lbsft at 3250 rpm (but the torque is above 285 all the way from 2750 rpm and only drops back down to 282 at 6250rpm) my only mod is a Milltek cat back exhaust (I laid this graph over the previous S3 i'd had mapped, and the power is...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Why won
Thanks for your comments Pete. Everyone I've spoken to, including Audi UK, admit that it doesn't seem right, but cannot explain why. Audi is refering it to Germany, I believe. I just want to gather as much information as possible to get them to sort my car as it should be. I will be happy if Audi ca...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Why won
Richard, The red line is also at 7k rpm and the limiter is a little higher, the limiter is there to help prevent engine damage due to over-revving and you have already stated your engine does rev upto the limiter in neutral. In this case I would consider that your engine does perform as per spec an...

Re: RE: Why won
I suspect this is a gearbox limitation, you maybe able to get the software changed to allow it change at a higher rpm. I have a manual B7 S4 and this revs right the way up, limiter is approx 7250rpm, anyway its the torque that makes the car go and the max torque is achieved much lower down the rev ...

New tyres often feel rubbish at first. They always need a bit of scrubbing in, then you've got 8mm of tread vs 2mm on the old ones so they won't feel so good in the dry, plus the old rubber has worn to suit your car's geometry. Spacers are generally not a good idea, and I wonder why driving enthusia...

Why won't engine won't rev out! (Newbie)
Hoping you can help a newbie :) No matter what mode the Tiptronic is in, it always changes up at around 6,700-6,800rpm. This is quite some way below the 7,000rpm red line, which is where Audi specs promise me I have 344PS peak power, and miles short of the 7,200rpm limiter (that I can reach by revvi...
