For Sale [Non Audi] '94 Alpina B2.5 BMW £2,450
Hi, After 2.5 years of happy ownership, I've decided to sell my genuine 1994 Alpina B2.5 - number L0001. I'm actually in no desperate rush to sell it, but have had a slight windfall, so am going to upgrade to something a bit newer. I bought it at around 90,000 miles and it has now done 94,000 miles....

Great stuff. I've ordered the top one so I'll let you know how I get on. I'll test it on the wife's golf tdi 1st!

C5 RS6 Vagcom - have I lost the plot?
OK, I've done loads of searches on here for previous posts but I still don't get Vagcom. So all I need to do is buy this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220518250615?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 download some shareware software and I have Vagcom? For £8?! Am I missing something? If ...

Re: Why so cheap?
Aha! This car is the layer cake love child... It's what happens when a yellow range rover and RS6 mate :drink: Many things to do - Ideally you want the car and gearbox stone cold for the test drive, as a warm box masks a lot of the thunks. All shifts should be smooth and without any bad noises - th...

Re: Your top 5?
Nice one - cheers. I had already had a quick look at that (but many months ago!), its a cracking guide actually. So, in terms of what to check, as a most likely to fail / most costly to fix I'm going with: 1. DRC (DRC fixed with H+R coilovers on this one) 2. Gearbox 3. Cam belt (needs done soon) 4. ...

Re: Why so cheap?
Cheers - good tips. First and foremost, I'm not massively tanned as the "Scotland" name might suggest. My Spannish tan from last week is fading fast!
How do I check if the gearbox is OK? Anything in particular I can do in the test drive?
Thanks again,
Gordon.

Re: Why so cheap?
Yip. A £3.5k option according to the advert. Not to everyone's taste I don't imagine, but seems OK to me.

Your top 5?
Hi, I'm off to see my first RS6 on Saturday (I've posted details of the car here: http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=96695 ). Other than browsing some of these forums over the last few years, I don't really know what to look for. Other than the obvious stuff like service history etc what is ...

Re: Why so cheap?
Although I'm a soap dodging weegie, I am in Edinburgh pretty much every week if you want a chat or a poke around the car :beerchug: Much appreciated, and I might take you up on that! I don't know much about these cars and don't want to buy a dud! @Scotland - my advice is to pick one carefully and h...

Why so cheap?
I've been shopping around for either a C5 RS6 or e39 M5 for a while. I'm in no rush and only looking locally in Edinburgh so not had much luck so far. My question is though - why are the prices of the RS6 dropping so fast? I've just seen that there are 10 sub £10k ers on auto trader (out of only 43 ...

OK, so I take it all back, it looks quite a lot like yours! So it probably IS silver after all!
Anyway, I'll check the paint code to be sure.

Re: Novice about to test drive first RS6
The disks look reasonably worn, too. Min thickness is 32mm IIRC. It'll be stamped on the bell. Sorry, what does that mean? I'm not sure how to say it any other way. Which bit is giving you difficulty? The bit about it being stamped on the bell. What's a "bell"? And what will be stamped on it? Sorry...

Re: Novice about to test drive first RS6
Yeah, its sitting on a slope AND on a kerb on that photo! I'll try and get a better one...Mr Footlong wrote:If that is sitting on DRC shocks then we need to see it on flat ground and not on a kerb as from that pic the suspension isn't right but that could be an incline too..

Re: Novice about to test drive first RS6
Looks like an Avus silver, to me. No, again, that's the blackberry pictures!
