Most modern management systems wont turn on the fuel pump until it knows the engine is spinning for safety reasons. Ensures the pump gets shut off in a collision. As such i suggest you take a look at the crank sensor, as thats bolted to the gearbox bellhousing which you have removed If the crank sen...

CTS question

Ok folks i'm buying some of the usual replacement parts (DV's, N75, 1 way valves etc) and as i've been getting some oddness going on with the CTS i'm wanting to change that too. I've looked at the sensor currently fitted and its green, but the electrical plug is blue. According to vagcat the 98 S4 s...

yes they do. and they should fit under the standard B5 wheels too Disks are available from motorfactors for around 80quid a pair, which is significantly better than the £lots the RS4 disks cost! In the case of RS4 disks, its probably cheaper to get a set of wilwood (or similar) bells and rotors made...

Hmm the ecu really does seem strange in that it doesnt want to provide the boost figures. I've made another log of channels 117 and 118 which are supposed to show amongst other things spec'd and actual boost. The two figures seem very close together though, so i suspect they're actually showing the ...

Ok i've been out and done a TB alignment, readings before and after the alignment were the same, and it said ADP OK after it. I also took a log of group 60 and 61 with me slowly pressing then releasing the throttle pedal with the engine off, and it seems to correctly move thru the range, and throttl...

You need S8 carriers, your existing vented S4 calipers (or probably the S8 ones would do if your car is on prefacelift solid rears) S4 pads and the S8 disks. If you go for the facelift S8, you get 280mm disks, whereas prefacelift S8's use 269mm disks I dont have the part numbers to hand, but a break...

I don't doubt your ability do be able to diagnose the problem quicker than i can, but its just not practical for me to travel so far to get the car looked at, nor can i justify the expense of doing so. I can also understand your personal reluctance to diagnose a vehicle for free, it does however see...

I presume you work for MRC? For starters i'd love to take my car to yourselves, but the fact that i'm 3-400miles away creates a bit of a problem there... Also at the end of the day, a garage (ie yourselves) will just follow a set diagnostic procedure, testing, using the results to narrow down the te...

I'm gonna try it again tomorrow, see if i can get the boost logging working. 117 and 118 also apparently show th boost figures so i'll try those, along with a differnt version of vagcom to see if i can get the data. I'll find out what ECU revision it is, but it is a very early car, as its on an R pl...

how wide are they? The B5 S4 standard wheels are 7.5" wide and ET45 and you should be trying to keep it as close to this as possible for best handling. However if the wheels are wider you will need to lower the offset to make them fit, as they'll hit the suspension knuckle, on the rear especially! Y...

PCB looked identical bar some of the silkscreen. I really dont think its related to the PCB though, as all the throttle body errors vanished as soon as i swapped it over, and it DOES get to full throttle initially. I'd imagine the calibration would have failed had the PCB been incorrect for the car ...

What are the options?
The RS4 parts will not fit under 17" rims.

If you want to keep your 17" S4 rims the biggest you can goto is the 345mm B6S4 parts

When i baught the car it had a faulty throttle body. On a few occasions the car has become unresponsive to throttle input, but i replaced the PCB in the throttle body with one from some other vag car (1.6 seat i think?) and that fixed the problems and all the fault codes regarding the throttle body ...
