Re: Slow/stiff steering
Rack is back in and fitted. Have refilled the system with oil and bled it. I vacuumed out the fluid in the reservoir a couple times to get rid of any old/contaminate fluid after so much of it had been apart. The pump was making a right noise initially and foaming the fluid. Seems to have calmed dow...

Re: Am I being daft. AC/blower query.
Yeah, probably the best idea. The AC likes to be used anyway!

Re: Am I being daft. AC/blower query.
Yep, mine only blows very warm air when the ac is off. You can monitor the temp coming out the vents with vagcom and mine showed 27 degrees, getting hotter when car was driven hard. Makes for a very uncomfortable cabin. Not sure why it does this, but with ac on it blows as low as 3 degrees in to the...

Re: Starter Motor failure
Yeah, as it was over 10 years ago I did this I am struggling to remember, but think I fashioned a cutting tool out of a full size hacksaw blade with a short wooden handle on one end, but there may have been something else I used as well. Maybe I took a picture at the time, I'll check when I get home...

Re: Starter Motor failure
Right, that's the F125 changed out. A shitty job that doesn't get any less shitty the more you do it. Skyegtb, what's your technique for clearing enough room to get the F125 slid off the shaft? I can't help thinking there must be a better way than mine. The first 2 times I did the job I had the ful...

Re: Starter Motor failure
When I had my no start issue, and the F125 code finally appeared I did a full diagnostic on the F125 and when operating the gears between PNDRS etc I could see that sometimes it did not update in VAGCOM correctly, and ocasionally instead of showing PNDRS it would display a random number or character...

LOL, just noticed I replied to your post on Facebook! Homeleigh Ardvasar I did a write up on rs246 when mine failed some years ago. I think I might have mentioned that exact fitting.... https://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=133768... Homeleigh Ardvasar Thinking back, I seem to remember I used ...

Re: AC on ECON and fault code
There is 510g in a full bottle. Normally for a top up I have used between a third and half a bottle, but if the system is empty then a full bottle. Also, you can get the gas for £50 at shops, the eBay link was just to show the type I use

Yes, you need a gun or a tap. I have the non digital version of that gun and it works just fine.

Re: AC on ECON and fault code
Did it myself with an AC Pro bottle. Took the whole bottle and now works like a dream. Been using these bottles for many years now on various vehicles and find them to be really excellent. If you do use one, make sure to add gas before starting the engine, as that will put enough in to get the AC to...

Re: AC on ECON and fault code
OK, I thought that the sensor was bad as it was giving a low pressure fault and reading 1 bar pressure, but in reality the sensor was good and the system was completely out of gas, and a re-charge fixed everything. Now reading 10 to 12 bar when AC is working. No leaks were found in the system , just...

Re: Starter Motor failure
Sickener. I am still on the original screen as fitted from factory and am dreading the day it gets damaged.... Pretty sure they are still available, I think you can check on sites like Autoglass etc. Not sure it would be a genuine Audi one you would get though, if thats what you meant
