I had a dead LED strip before Xmas - it would sometimes flicker briefly on startup, but once autocheck decided it was dead, both running lights were turned off. I had the recall done, and headlight with the dead running light was changed. In the last month, I've had about five instances of autocheck...

An update (might help somebody, you never know!): Strange behaviour explained, and it's not all Audi's fault! First, the SIM Access Profile bit is a sort of clue - even though it can read the phone memory for the Contacts/Directory entries, it can only read and write SMS messages from/to the SIM , a...

C6 S6 is not DRC, regular sprung suspension. In fact that's one of the odd things in a way - the C6 A6 can be had with air suspension (so it fits the chassis), the S8 has air suspension (so it can be made a bit sporty) but the S6 is sprung. <shrug>

a proud new cock clarkson you numpty With a sense of humour like that, what were you doing driving BMWs before? :) Can't comment in detail on the RS 4, having never had one, but can't think what really can go horribly wrong with them apart from keeping an eye out for DRC problems, which you should ...

Re: RE: Re: What do I do?

Have you read your service manual? Nope, I haven't read any of the manuals to be honest. I think all the new "short" V engines use cam chains, but I can tell you the RS 6 is on AVS by default. Mine is currently indicating it's going to need its first service at about 13500 miles or thereabouts. It'...

Heh, I was surprised when you went for the oil-burner Craig; not surprised you're in an S8 now.

Great choice of colour! :D

Re: What do I do?

I absolutely love this car..let us know how you get on. L That's it in a nutshell - head can say it's a crazy move to buy a heavily-depreciating rocket-barge with a drinking problem, but heart says it was the right thing to do: 11111 miles in (passed it this morning) and still a thrill to slap the ...

Re: RE: Airport parking is it safe?

I use T5 business parking, where you park the car up and take the keys with you (i ended up getting free short stay parking) I had no problems what so ever, there's loads of fancy cars there mate Bentley's, 911s and loads of RS4/6 so I would not be worries personally! Yep, that's where I'll park as...

Glitch in the matrix - had to reset MMI

Odd MMI glitch last night - I think a controller on one of the CAN buses must have gone a bit haywire. I was just filling up (a common event in an RS 6!) and left the phone in the car. When I got back in, it was just ringing as I turned the ignition on, and BT kicking in seemed to upset it, and the ...

Wet roads, 580PS, nearly-dead Pirellis and ESP off = fun

Sometimes sphincter-clenching fun, but fun! The RS 6 is getting the Pirellis off today, to be replaced with Contis. The Pirellis were down to the tread wear blocks and it really shows in the handling and feel when driving in the wet. I'm lucky in that I live close to a quite extensive rural ro...

Oops! Mine hasn't been cleaned at all for about three weeks, and I haven't cleaned it ever yet - had it since July.
