An S4 can be just as special to someone as an RS4 is to you lot who own one. Some people may only want to drive a saloon and not an estate. S4 wideboy for example have the best of both worlds looks wise and performance if tuned. There are alot of S4's out there that have more power than RS4's and v...

also, whats wrong with travelling 250+miles for the right car? I did... My last two cars have both been over 400 miles from home. The train journey, final deal and drive back. Now that's a good day out. Wouldn't miss it for the world. These things don't grow in trees - and all here imported. But go...

Right now my exhaust is almost stock - with just pre-cats and middle silencer removed. You will get a better flow (and thus allows for more power) when replacing with larger diameter "pipes" and ..hmm.. non-OEM main cats, for example. Your ECU may need a remap again. It is interesting though how op...

Oh man, I got a hint of green (envy) on me to have the RS from the beginning... :) I reckon the reason for not going over 460 is in the exhausts. How is your set-up actually? OEM after de-catting (and which of the cats, by the way)? And yes, I've understood also the dynos are not that accurate. Nice...

RE: Re: RE: Re: oil temp gauge
Likely no problems. I agree with posts above. However if you're saying it never goes over 65, even in hard driving or in traffic jams during hot summer day --- maybe worth a quick check. During winter my oil temp needle hardly moves even on motorway. Summer is slightly different. It's just physics.

Re: RE: Re: oil temp gauge
Yep, that's right --- traffic and e.g. summer makes all the difference -- you're looking at ~80ish even if driving like a grandma.....ollys wrote:My oil guage sits at anywhere between 70ish and 90 normal driving (incl. London traffic).
It's been a while since I've seen warm weather

Re: oil temp gauge
whenever i'm on a long-ish run i've found that my gauge needle always sits just under the 90c mark..... even around town it will sit just under and not on the 90c mark..... is this normal? Hi, I'm assuming you are talking of coolant temp (the gauge beside fuel indicator) not oil temp.... unless of ...

Re: RE: Traction in the Snow
ESP applies brake to individual wheels and changes throttle response if it feels slip. In the snow the system hinders your progress as it's working overtime. One thing I'm pretty sure helps out cars in the snow it the EDL (Electronic Diff lock) where it brakes the wheel that is spinning which gives...

RE: Exhaust and cats - two options, which is better?
Ok, just some comments. Haven't actually seen any real proven data as to where is the most restricting part (cats/silencers/diameter of pipes etc) or what is 2nd, and so forth.... But as easily seen from the forum, most people seem to go for getting work done on the pre-cats while not having main ca...

For possible causes, use search function with "hesitation"... that is if not yet already done.

RE: Rear diff leaking oil, what to do?
If I understood correctly about the problem, just the gaskets replacement is maybe a 2-2.5hrs work time (for both at rear, right side is easier). Costs 1/10.
Somebody with more knowledge
maybe could explain why to go for new diff as it is not so apparent from problem description...

On a 8.5J I certainly wouldn't go for a tyre less than 245, especially on a car like the RS. All IMO of course! Agree! Forgot one obvious downside; going for a narrower tyre means "faster" or "lighter" steering feel, depending on how much was the difference. Less resistance you see... Like it more ...

RE: Thoughts on fitting smaller tyres
18-inch is my preference, so no downside going from 19 :) On a narrower tyre in regards to the rim, 225/40/18 is about the minimum for standard one - and it will look funny. Have not tried booting with this kind of setup on track so cannot tell how it would behave under the car. As obvious, 255 is g...

Thanks PaulF, for giving your comment on the MTM chip. Shouldn't go very wrong there. It's been on my 'to-do' list, once I get tired of standard .) Aside from that, wonder if anyone would care share their experience between ~similar tunings, but by a different tuner (~like driven their friends' cars...
