I see a few have done this mod and it looks dead easy and unobstrusive but does it actually work, ie does it make a significant difference to brake temps with std calipers?Blue_Thunder wrote:Have you looked into the VW Phaeton discs upgrade? Shouldn't be a problem getting the parts from your local VW garage.

RE: Brake Cooling
I don't get much fade with the Mintex pads, its the wear that is killing me. I destroy a set in one track day without trying, more than 3 laps at a time and they pads will overheat and start to smear themselves over the rotors. RS4 brakes aren't really an option. I would have to go to 18's and getti...

Brake Cooling
I have just done another track day and destroyed another set on Mintex pads. This is getting to be expensive! I am running std calipers and slotted rotors and they seem to work well enough until they overheat (which they do really quickly). The mintex pads give lots of bite but eventually melt. If t...

Running Lean mid revs..?
I have taken the following log and it appears that between 4700 and 5700 the car is running lean (O2 volts below 0.5). The rest of the rev range looks to be OK. I have also been getting a small hesitation at about 2800 and again at 3800. It was serviced recently and there was a bloggage in the pipe ...

I've now replaced the MAF and run some more logs. Looks better but still not as good as I had anticipated. FAT time puts output at 275hp. The boost looks OK, except the @ 2720 rpm there is a big difference between Specfiied and Actual. Any ideas anyone why this would be? I've also logged grp 116 whi...

Thanks for all the feedback so far. Just picked up a new MAF and 2 710n DV's, which I will fit this weekend. I don't have Vag-Com so have also purchased a cable from Ebay. So when that arrives I will be able to run logs alot easier. I'm learning heaps, and apart from the stress of thinking my car wa...

The remap I have is supposed to be good for 330hp, so the output calc via the MAF is not what I would expect. Apparantly the RR wasn't using a wideband sensor so their readings could be out. But then if the car's not running lean it's still not putting out the expected HP. So something else maybe no...

I've ordered a MAF and pick it up today. Looking back at some old posts it looks like my MAF readings are not too bad. From what I've read 212 being about avg for a std car, and I'm showing up to 227. Is there something else I should be checking? Should I replace the MAF anyway.. What other blocks s...

Thanks for the reply. I'll fit a new MAF as suggested. Here's another log, which does go to Red line: Group A: '003 Engine speed Mass air flow Throttle angle Ign timing TIME g/s 0-5deg=closed deg Marker STAMP /min g/s % °BTDC 0.01 2320 31.69 13.3 27 1.41 2440 20.06 8.6 33 2.72 2480 14.17 6.7 36.8 4...

The remap is from http://www.ic-chiptuning.com/html/index.htm I don't have VAG-Com but will be getting it scanned before I drive it again. Unfortunately we don't have the likes of MRC down under so Health Checks are unheard of. It was scanned by when the map was done and no faults appeared. Also it ...

Dyno Results
I've just had my car dyno'd and got the attached result. It is running very lean and the mixture is all over the place. They wouldn't complete the dyno run due to the mixture. Also the torque looks way too high. The car has been chipped, but otherwise standard. The dyno guy pointed finger at the chi...
