Re: Have you been affected by the petrol shortages?
All seems to be back to normal around here. No queues anywhere - I suspect that everyone is emptying their jam jars & generally working their way through their panic stockpiles. I just didn't go out for a week during all this silliness. Glad I work 20 yards from home & have 3 weeks of gas oil & Derv...

Re: Bolster question
Ah.
It did need a set of front discs, so I don't think it had been driven gently. Alloys were corroded too.

Re: Bolster question
Apologies for the link not working.
Salisbury Audi have withdrawn it from the website. Maybe it hasn't been cleaned up yet or it has already been bagged by someone else.
I'll keep you posted.

Re: Bolster question
Thanks for the replies. I'll take it for a test drive & see how comfortable it is. From a search on this subject, it would seem that I could disable the bolsters from the DIS. Is this correct? Do the bolsters on the passenger side inflate/deflate too? I like the look of the Recaros - how mu...

Bolster question
I went to Salisbury Audi today to look at a B7 Avant. No sales guys were around so I wandered into the compound and had a sniff around. The car wasn't even locked! I sat in the seat and my backside wouldn't fit in the seat - Are the bolsters adjustable or were they just inflated? Do they even stay i...

Re: Rattle in Milltek tail pipes
I'm probably not the best person to comment as I have only had 2 Milltek systems on 2 cars but that has been over 5 years... My previous one was a resonated cat back system on a 3.2 litre V6 VW Golf R32 & I had no troubles with it whatsoever, in fact it reduced the booming at 2000 rpm considerably o...

Re: Rattle in Milltek tail pipes
It's not the valves, not that the exhaust has any apart from the turbo wastegates - The nice man at Kwik Fit put a gloved hand on the mesh inside the tail pipe and lo, it stopped rattling!

Rattle in Milltek tail pipes
My Milltek tail pipes are rattling - the mesh is loose. What does the mesh do? I assume that it is for noise reduction. What can I do to stop it moving around? Is it covered under any kind of warranty? The exhaust was fitted by MRC for the previous owner. MRC isn't exactly just up the road from me.

Re: Air & boost loss - help!
Fair enough. Lesson learnt.
I don't intend to have the car for a long time - as soon as I find a decent B7 Avant locally I will change.
Thanks for the replies.

Re: Air & boost loss - help!
Perhaps. Has anyone else had the engine out for 2 new turbos? If so, what did you fork out for the job? Blue Thunder & Grizz - Do you have experience of this sort of work or are you just doing a mental estimate? I'm not getting pi88ed off, just curious. Paid the bill anyway, so no point in worrying ...

Re: Air & boost loss - help!
Well, she's fixed at last! Thanks to Gary at Williams Automotive in Ferndown. He replaced both turbos, the flywheel & clutch as well as all fluids & the aircon. My wallet is £5700 lighter but having had a really good look at everything downstream of the knackered turbo there's no other issues. No bi...

Re: Air & boost loss - help!
Hi Shaky! Good to hear from you. How's the Porka? The ol' girl's got 77 000 miles on the clock now. I must admit that she is only a weekend car & gets driven enthusiastically but without hitting the rev limiter. I never work it hard until it has fully warmed up & always cool it down before turning i...

Re: Air & boost loss - help!
This job is getting more expensive by the day - the clutch was 80% worn & the flywheel had damage so I told them to replace them too. Apparently a vane broke off the exhaust turbine which caused the bearing to fail. The vane was found down by the cat but hadn't damaged it (the cat converter), thank ...

I never get spotted. Nor will I be until my RS gets its 2 new turbos fitted.
