18.86 per litre for your information was what i was quoted, hence the 90 PREMUIM over what edge is readily available for from outside sources, Ahhhhhh - now you've clarified it, I bow to your earlier opinion. And foook me, that IS a premium - did they provide a pot of Vaseline before presenting you ...

Re: Ceramic brakes
Apologies if this has been covered a million times but, is it a straight forward swap to standard discs on a car fitted with ceramic ones when they are ready for a change? Diferent discs, differnet pads, different calipers, different splash shields. Audi do an official retro fit kit containing all ...

Audi charge castrol out at double what its readily available at from various sources , Really? Care to share some links of where the official workshop brew is 'readily available'? I'm confident when searching for UK suppliers, the 'computer says no' will be the result. You can buy the correct oil m...

Re: Long Service - Advisories
This is my receipt. Thoughts? Yup - brake fluid - why are they NOT using the correct fluid? There is only one correct brake fluid - and that is the genuine OEM VAG fluid. And they raped you on the price of the engine oil - especially considering the trade price for Shell Helix Ultra is around £6ish...

Re: Spark Plug Life / transmission / diff oil life
Consider replacing the coolant too.
And use only genuine fluids in the gearbox and rear diff - there are no aftermarket products approved for these.
Definately replace the fuel filter - but make sure the tank is less than a quarter full.

If you have a peer reviewed study - that would help imensely.sulli wrote:Just my opinion, would you like me to submit a peer reviewed study?
Otherwise, like you state - it is just your opinion, rather than fact. And an opinion which is grossly misleading.

Re: Ceramic brakes
In the UK, the ceramic discs retail at about £2100 each. SGL Carbon, who make the discs for Audi (as well as for Porsche and Lambo) state the service life is 150,000 miles. As for wear - they don't wear in the conventional sense, they degrade and loose mass when overheated. So they should really be ...

Re: engine temp
I'd only start to worry if it went up above 110 and you were not going mad or if it went over 120. Why? :boots: Technically the oil will be fine up to 130 and will tolerate higher for short times 150degC. All oils which meet the ACEA A3/B4 (of which the VW 504.00/507.00 is based upon) include the H...
