Cracked Turbine Housing

Cobstar has an RS Blue RS2 - original turbo which had a hairline crack in the housing which was welded (@ approx. 60K miles on the clock now with 138K miles on the clock). I have been told that turbos only last 80-100K miles - but I suppose it depends on how No problems with it so far - oil changes ...

Re: Help Cobstar is away and....

johneroberts,

Thanks for the advice - Cobstar should be home in a couple of hours and then will take charge .

Friday was a worry because I was not sure how serious the problem was. Its obviously driveable to the garage.

Cheers,

Re: Help Cobstar is away and....

kiwi_mtm, Checked the level this am prior to doing the shopping (arrgh). I could not tell if the level has dropped. I'll check her again later once she has cooled down. I definitely do not want to do her any harm, she is far too much fun and Cobstar would kill me! Thanks for the help, tjc

Re: Help Cobstar is away and....

scillyisles, Thanks for the help. I have topped up the coolant and noted the levels before I left work as car was now cool. Level had not changed since this am and no fuild on the floor (I park in a cool underground car park so any loss would have been very visible). On way home got stuck in traffic...

Help Cobstar is away and....

Just got the boss away for the weekend and she mentioned - in passing - that the coolant level on the RS2 was low and the air-conditioning was not as effective yesterday on her way home. Checked it and the coolant was on the minimum but car was hot. During the run to work the coolant was at 85degree...

Re: My RS2 - First Pictures - Part 1

Hi Russ,

Thanks for that, I'll tell her in doors ;-) She was looking at the bumper last weekend when we washed it and we were not sure if it would be a problem.

She is still raving about the car and wonders why she hadn't bought one before.

Regards,

Re: Can I Come and Play?

RS4 next time I couldn't afford one now (She'll have to make do with an RS2!).

Well done, we must all keep our Audi ends up!

I'm trying to be patient

They say that all things come to he who waits - I just hope you don't have to wait too long (I may even get another ride then!).

Re: Can I Come and Play?

Paul, Yes it is all your fault. My grin after a ride in your S4 and the look your car set her thinking. I couldn't hold out forever, but she hasn't agreed to let me drive it! - yet. It is Nagaro Blue (ring any bells!) an...

Re: EVO Review - May 2002

Having driven the TT and S3 back to back - the S3 is the better drive. The suspension/ride seemed better sorted and when I got to a junction I always could see in the S3 (not so the TT). The TT may have the style but in terms of point to point performance on normal roads I would have expected the S3...

Re: How many S3 owners on here?

Hi there, Just found this site - I have an S3 - just done 5120 miles (she's had an oil change any views on the pros/cons of interim oil changes) and still love her to bits. The boss is just in the process of buying herse...
