I received two more units today and installed one, it was Alpine firmware and worked with an Iphone 4 ok. Software version 2.1.3

Hi Darren, that is what I suspected when you emailed me. Previous alpine firmware units were not capable of working with later model Ipods/Iphones. I wonder if there is an update procedure for existing owners with Alpine firmware.

Usually that is a sign of a faulty GPS antenna. Check the received satelites.

The clue was "after market additions" and you started listing factory options, which are obviously not after market or dealer fit. if it's in the options list then you should not have to declare it.

No chance, you don't get sound or picture in a digital area with an analogue tuner.

Thats good for switching the source, but it doesn't pass the IR signals to control the device. Forgive me if I'm wrong but the two inputs, one is for a TV/Alpine etc and the other is for reverse camera and activates when in reverse.

The k-line has always been green with a blue stripe in the A6/A4 old A3 etc. It's never changed. I know some colours do change from model to model but in general they stay the same in the build of the car for the type of connection.
