Silly question, but how do you know if a S3 has the Bose upgrade?

Been to see a S3 today and it had a sub fitted under the cd unit in the boot.
Does this mean it has the Bose upgrade or does the standard audio have a sub fitted as well?

I'm looking for a facelift S3.
Looks like Croft or Fontain are the main players except Audi that is.
Anyone got anything good or bad to say about either??
