My S4 is making a similar noise execpt its only doing it when a pull off in First or somtimes second.

Did you resolve the problem?

Evenin All.... Problem solved ...it was the ABS ECU that had gone mental.....£900 ...I didnt pay though the dealer I brought the car from sorted it..... I dont want to mention the dealer in the Black County...but Im never going there again....ive seen more smiles on people on death row than at that ...

Guys.... Your feedback is very warming...the noise is comming from about mid section, ie the transmission area. If I depress the clutch or hold the gear stick to the left the noise is much less dramatic... It may well be the clutch as it comes in so many pieces,and at 109K there will be a little rat...
