I paid just over £1000 from a stealer at the beginning of the year for front discs and pads.

The stealer has been on the phone and confirmed that it is the offside front CV joint that's gone. It's going to be around £280 to put right so not as bad as I thought!

After missing the opportunity to extend the warranty on my car which ran out in June (IDIOT!) I have so far had 2 problems with it. I just fear that Audi could simply turn round and say whatever's happened isn't covered under the warranty (i.e. wear and tear etc.) ...

You can save money by sourcing the parts and fitting yourself but I certainly don't trust my own mechanical ability enough to do the job myself.
