Not right, you can use oil approx. 3-5 years, when stored dark and cool.

Newest Generation of Mobil 1 Supersyn (i.e. 0w-40 or 5w-50) is BY FAR the best oil money can buy. Use 0w-40 (503.01) for standart RS4, and 5w-50 for chipped/tuned cars. Castrol SLX 0w-30, which is very near to a 0w-40 in fact, is good too, but not as good as Mobil 1.

Cannot help you to buy SLX in Wales, but I can promise you that SLX Longlife II will kill your engine at the first high speed / high temperature run! Longlife II is NOT intended for RS4, you MUST use an oil that meets VW 503.01 !!! Longlife II meets only 503.00 and has reduced HTHS (High Temperature...

Re: Ideal Low Cost Tyre Found

Kiwi? Do you know the difference between a summer and winter tyre? You wrote that yokohama S306 is a z rated winter tyre, then you wrote that you are using a summer tyre. Ok! 1. There is no z rated winter tyre on this planet 2. Yokohama S306 is a summer ty...

Re: Ideal Low Cost Tyre Found

Bloody hell, so what kind of tyre were you searching for? Winter?? Why do you take a winter tyre when there is no winter where you live? And why do you write that you need a summer tyre? [img]images/graemlins/062802beat_prv...

Re: Winter tyres!

I have the Dunlops and they are good, but the M2 version is rather old, and the new M3 is not available in Extra Load (92). Latest tyre reviews for R17 and R18 say Pirelli W240 Snowsport is best.

Re: Will big brake affect ABS function

As far as I know there shouldn't be any problem as the ABS is triggered by sensors. I don't know anyone who has had the ABS modified, or anyone who had has problems with stock ABS. HTH. 1. You cannot modify ABS, tuners can't as well. If they tell you they do, they are lying. 2. You won't notice any...

I talked to a guy from quattro gmbh at the IAA in frankfurt last friday. He definetly knew what he was talking about. New RS4 will not come before 2005, will have a V8 4.2, no turbo, and approx. 420-440 bhp. I spoke to a guy from quattro GmbH at the IAA too, and he sad that thay don't know by now w...

Re: idle speed problems

The only reason can be that the engine needs too much time to fill the new oil filter. Unless it is filled, the oil pressure is low. Prefilling should help, but no mechanic will do this if you don't watch him.

Re: How to stop disks blueing

In the old RS4.org Forum there was a very intersting thread from Carl concerning better brake cooling with some cheap, slightly modified VW Phaeton parts. Can we have that information again please?

Re: Dog, you naughty boy

No, that's not fair! In Germany we are not so free to choose. Mine is: .. - RS 401. .. - RS 4 was reserved for bikes (short plate). It's not reserved for bikes! Mine is -XR 4 [img]image...
