Re: Engine Mount Open Circuit Diagnostic & Remediation?
Good to know! I sold my RR about 15 year ago. It's stayed with the same owner and is still mint. Worth quite a lot more than I sold it for, but no real regrets - with busy work and family, my time to really appreciate the car was as a young single guy, and will be when I, like you, retire. Great car...

Re: Engine Mount Open Circuit Diagnostic & Remediation?
Thanks Jim - that's helpful and much as I expected. Of course I'm assuming that this faults is not simply the electrical connection, so I will look first to check that. If that checks out OK, I will wait until the annual service and then get O2 and other bits replaced at the same time. What did you ...

Engine Mount Open Circuit Diagnostic & Remediation?
Ok, My C6 has been throwing the odd "Engine Mount Open Circuit" code. Frequency is not a lot, but they are persistent. 005495 - Right Engine Mount Solenoid Valve (N145) P1577 - 004 - Open Circuit Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 01100100 Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 3 Reset counter: 255 Mileage: 12...

Re: Fron Discs & pads cost ?
Long time. The C5 is gone, and a C6 has replaced it. After scoring a set of new discs for $75 (really) that will sit in the garage until the truck comes off warranty, I'm keen to see if I can get a good set of pads as well. Has anyone got any other sources for pads that suit the C6 RS6? Without the ...

it's not necessary to remove either the engine or the tranny - the valve body is in the bottom bit (technical term) remove the sump and voila.... there are apparently a few modifications to the valve body that zf undertook during the model life that can be retro-fitted. i'm trying to find out more i...

Re: RE: Re: RE: a cautionary tale....
I refer you to page 31 of the the RS6 training manual where the modifications from the standard 5HP24a are detailed: as i tried to say, the gearboxes are substantially the same. the increased pressure mentioned is due to a unique tcc, not the oil pump, which is the same. the transfer housing is not...

Re: RE: a cautionary tale....
The TC is bigger on the RS6. Also the box is a modified 5HP24A, you can't just grab one off an A6 and expect it to last longer than a glass drumkit. not really - the 5hp24a is the awd variant of the 5hp24. amongst the 5hp24a family, the only thing that is unique in the rs6 box is the tcc. the rest ...

RE: a cautionary tale....
the other realisation i came to with this experience is that the dealer outsources all substantial transmission work to a local specialist. i felt *way* more comfortable talking to the specialist who knew the type of 'box, th general issues with it, and could debunk some of the myths. he also offere...

a cautionary tale....
hey long time since i posted - here is a tale of woe with a happy ending.... a couple of months ago i had a "coming together" in my rs6 with another vehicle. t-boned them. i managed to reduce the length of my car by about 100mm, and write their car off. however, my car being an rs6 meant that, altho...

the switch is for the rear blind in the saloon. this is a momentary contact switch with a graphic of a veil on it. i purchased the switch and hooked it to a simple relay so that it now serves 2 functions: 1. mutes my valentine 1, and 2. works my garage door opener. the "blind" graphic is quite appro...

Re: RE: Re: RE: RS6 dump valves
^^^ as he said! Audi DVs = Diverter Valves (aka recirculation valves) not Dump Valves. ;-) recirculation valves put the extra boost pressure back to the turbine so all that boost is not wasted. result =less lag. dump valves vent to the atmosphere with a loud fart which causes an erection i...
