Try disconnecting the WGFV, then you will only get what the WG is set for ( ie spring pressure - normally .4 to .6 bar ) Is this different to what you see with it connected ? . If your WG diaphragm was split you would be overboosting. Try cleaning the MAF electrical connections and reset ECU.

If the Idle valve does not cure it, you most likely have a leak on one or more of the many hoses coming off the Intake manifold. Another culprit is the TBV - a split in the diaphragm will cause stalling if it is a Bosch original.

Had the same prob on my S2. I used a bicycle bottom bracket adjustable cup with some washers and bolted it up so that the pushrod can only move in a straight line instead of bending at the "flex" joint ( I assume it is there to soften the biting point ).
