Don't know about that my mates M3 one went at 100,000 and cost a s**t load to repair.

As far as I know the timing chain and cam chain need done at 5 years or 80,000 miles well that's what the dealer recomended too me.

I asked the dealer about the chains and the replie I got was 5 year or 80,000 miles which ever comes first.It's not just the timing chain the S4 has a cam chain as well I think.It is quite an expensive job as all the pully's and tightners have to be changed as well,might be an idea to get the water ...
