Stolen RS4 interior Berkshire/ Surrey area beware!!!

Post by pav2412 » Tue Jun 25, 2013 2:39 pm

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum, just a heads up to let you know my B7 was broken into and they stole my bucket seats, Nav, steering wheel, gear knob and carbon surround, cd changer!

They kindly smashed my passenger window, damaged my door card! They also damaged my roof lining by trying to smash the interior alarm monitor!

I have been searching everywhere for a set of seats, if anyone has any or can help, that would be greatfully appreciated.

Best regards

Hi,

Sorry to hear your sad news, you must be gutted. This seems to be happening all the time down your way. Hopefully Plod manages to catch the robbing bastards sooner rather than later. Or better still someone catches them in the act and gives them the good news with a breaker bar.......

Going buy what has happened to other people on here that have had their seats and other bits nicked your car will probably be classed as a CAT D by the insurance company given the cost of replacement parts new from Audi. From what I can gather you buy the car back and source the replacement bits second-hand for much less cash.

Keep an eye on ebay as there was a guy that was selling his third set of buckets in under a year. If he magically finds a fourth set there is a good chance that they are stolen.

I have a pair of Recaro Comfort seats for sale but they are silver leather with black piping which will suite almost nobody but might make an interesting project for someone.

Good luck fixing the car if you decide to keep it.

wow...it's a free for all for buckets. WTF

Sorry to hear....that's a horrible story. Hope it works out with the insurers and you come out stronger than before.

Hey really sorry to hear about your seats. Mine as the above link were stolen a few weeks ago and they wrote my car off (they had only taken the seats, caused some interior damage and scratched the car)
I have been keeping an eye on ebay and other sites but never came across mine, however I am sure these are taken to order. I was browsing around some Golf and other VW forums and there are quite a few posts about people putting in RS4 seats. One **** had RS4 seats and a Porsche steering wheel!! Some people posted they can be got for approx £1700 for the set on the forums. That actually pissed me off even more. Of course they are not sourced legally as many wrote how much they should be new. People like us have to suffer so that some plonker has RS4 buckets in his 1.9 Tdi. I just purchased comfort seats but if not I would certainly have taken coffey555 ones of him and had them coloured or trimmed.

Again sorry to hear about it, I know how it feels and if you want any advice (like I have taken off other members on here to start sorting mine out give me a shout)

Hi, this happened to me too. It's a huge PITA. Try and get as much as you can off the insurance people and then buy the car back. Any A4 seats will fit until you can get a set of proper seats on ebay or similar. Good luck with it, let me know if you need a trimmer, the guys I used to do my replacement seats did a great job.

Whilst I hate to bend the rules but in this instance a FON! is in-appropriate  right thats It I am planning anti seat theft action!
Best of luck with the car and what ever turns out.

I am sure everyone will be keeping a beady eye out for a set of seats 'available'

All the best.

Maybe we should all somehow mark our seats somewhere discreet (UV pen or something??). There's obviously a market for them, and I would imagine they'll eventually end up on ebay. Unfortunately, there's lot of unscrupulous people who buy stuff "no questions asked" which, thankfully, doesn't matter to the law.

Right, are we lock-tighting seat bolts or going for the window anti-break in film, who knows what's best?

I'd go for the film... Lock bolts won't stop you losing rns-e, steering wheel, interior...

Isn't it worth threads of this nature being members-only viewable?

Maybe somebody mentioned this already.

I agree, I've looked at film - expensive but should stop this.

So are these people just calmly dismantling cars in people's driveways? The mind boggles.

Have you heard the standard alarm?
Most people haven't even when it's going off.
I haven't had one false alarm so that's probably a start - upgrade the alarm siren!

Actually a very good point. I know its relatively easy for people to join but maybe some of these posts if possible (like my own) keep them for members only. Not sure how easy or practical it is to do....it may as it is in one way have potential crooks find out precautions we are taking but then again seeing we are doing so much may deter some...either way I need more tequila :-) :drink:

...when the police asked if I heard the alarm for my car when it got broken into I almost laughed and asked if they have ever heard one!

The film sounds interesting but I'd be worried about someone like a fireman being unable to get in if there's an emergency. Unlikely as it is, this worries me.
