Oil change washers

Post by 03slatt » Sat May 31, 2025 3:13 pm

Hi does anyone have the sizes for the crush washers for the oil drain plugs ? Or any idea of where to get them?

Thanks
Tom

I keep threatening to measure them every time I do them but just havent gotten round to it before they end up in the 'bin' post change (I have a kit of various sizes I use for my cars). Not helpful I know sorry but either you will get an answer from someone to help us all, or I will let you know when I next service her, although thats going to be a while...

Neither MRC Tuning or Unit20 specifically mention what "Audi" part number they use in their bills, and the ETKA drawing for the engine oil system doesn't specifically show them - however, using the ETKA drawing for the oil pipe from the pump to the reservoir, the part number for that pipe, which has a drain plug/washer included, seems to point to the following part numbers and matches the same numbers at the 3 locations that "most" of our RS6 have them (varies by year between 2x to 5x)...............but I can't be absolutely 100% that these are correct (covering myself a little there :D) -

Washer - N0138444
Plug - N91155901

The washer looks to be a 20mm OD with 16mm ID if thats the correct washer in the first place and there's a bunch on eBay etc for about £3 each. Here's the screenshot of the page I was looking at, for anyone else who fancies confirming for themselves.

I understand that the policies of VAG service centres and aftermarket places that use VAG procedures is that the plugs and washers are replaced at each oil change. Washers ok, but the plugs as well? I mean, they aren't exactly fragile are they.

I've only been charged for washers at MRC/Unit20 unless a single plug has been damaged/stripped etc because, as you mentioned, the plugs are just bolts and they're not "single use" so I don't know why anyone would want to replace them every time, just seems odd to me. Hell, even ELSAWIN doesn't say they need replacing in the oil change procedure, just the washers do.

Thanks guys, audi want £450 for an oil service which i find crazy for the amount of oil/time it will take, I have always serviced my own cars unless they are new so I think I'll give this a go.

Any other pointers before I order the oil, oil filter, washers and oil extractor ?

If you need it, the procedure taken directly from ELSAWIN that the Audi mechanics should be following can be found here alongside a bunch of other procedures - viewtopic.php?f=47&t=119322

Ok so sometimes I even surprise myself; updating my repair log for work done on the convenience module and find I did log the seals at the major service way back @75K - this may be of help if your plug arrangement is the same as mine... and if I recall the Elring part given here is a damn tight fit from memory (they're plated) so prob not an exact match. Surprising what you remember when you memory is jogged

Seal Washer, Oil Drain Plugs (20x16) N0138444 3off Elring 243.205
Seal Washer, Oil Drain Plug (20x14x1) 1off N 0138493

Now I do think that mines actually a 5 plug task, so I can only assume the fifth is also one of the above, and I maybe had a spare in stock at the time?
