SJP continued

For those of you who have stripped one of these manifolds/intake and put them back together I salute you  what a pain in the rear-end that was

This TapaTalk for my beta version of iOS is not working correctly. Sends weird lines of emoji-code if I try to add photos and text together. Easier to upload the photos and then edit the post in a regular browser later. I have replaced the pipes that I felt were a little suspect, replaced the water pump, pressure pipe O rings and the IAT. It's slowly coming back together :audibash:

Notice the metal pipe from the SJP to the brake-booster. All other versions I have seen are made from a hard plastic with a heat-shield. My engine is a BRV from a PLUS+ model, so I am wondering if this was a modification for the later cars or just for the BRV?

Hats off to you sir. That looks amazing. It may have been a pain in the rear to do.
But you can now stand back and marvel at the finished result.

Did you have it off for a fault, or just preventative/make it look pretty?

I pulled the manifold because my SJP broke (in the way they always do!) while I was there I tested the water pump and that was dead also ImageImage

Small update: Engine now runs, just a few little things to do before MOT. I like how it looks before all those silly cables and pipes are connected!

Really nice work Craig.
So that’s where the brake booster valve and auxiliary water pump fits.
Had unit 20 replace my brake booster valve a while ago.
I have a new auxiliary water pump for when I need it.

Forgive my ignorance but what does SJP stand for.

What a massive faff for a small plastic part.

I can think of stronger words, but faff will do :audibash:

Lots of new bits while doing this job

New upper and lower MAF seals, new seals in pressure regulator, new throttle body O ring, new inlet gaskets (of course).
New IAT sensor, new Pierburg water pump, new updated SJP, new spark plugs, new red-top coils and adapters, new silicone vacuum hoses (some not all), new billet type PCV valve, new OEM air filters.

The list will continue I am sure :audibash:

A brake booster valve in the traditional sense is a one-way vacuum pipe valve connected to the booster. The role of the SJP is different in the way that it uses the venturi effect to improve vacuum when you first take your foot off of the accelerator pedal.
