Hi
Just wondering how people are doing for oil consumption, particularly on those that have had the oil separator done and more higher mileage examples.
Reason I ask is, in April @ 79,164 miles, I had Audi do a full oil change. I think the engine takes approx 8.5 to 9 litres of oil. I've just done a quick check in the MMI only to see it sat on the min mark and I'm now on 83,622 miles. So in just over 4k miles its managed to chomp away at all that oil which is very concerning.
The car seems to be running fine, doesn't appear to have any leaks but wondering if those who have had the oil separators done are experiencing higher oil consumption? Are there any other things I can check?
Thanks
Rick
Oil Consumption Concerns
Re: Oil Consumption Concerns
The difference between the min and max mark is 1L iirc.
Re: Oil Consumption Concerns
These cars like oil) I am doing 15k km in a year and never get 1.5 liter to top up almost always go to change oil at my dealer
Re: Oil Consumption Concerns
Added a litre of oil which then showed 3/4 on the MMI. Then after one week it went up one notch and then down to 3/4 a few days later.
Car has now thrown me the check engine light, looking through an OBD scanner I’m getting two codes (P209600 and P12B700)
One relates to active post cat bank 1 running lean and the other is sporadic related to cylinder 8 cam adjuster.
Could these be early signs of the HPFP failing?

Try delete codes and see if they come backRich85 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 10:01 amAdded a litre of oil which then showed 3/4 on the MMI. Then after one week it went up one notch and then down to 3/4 a few days later.

Re: Oil Consumption Concerns
Light came back on after 160miles, turned out the sensor was just faulty, replaced under warranty but just monitoring the oil consumption for now.
Also do you know if the PCV is replaced when the strainer is done?

Re: Oil Consumption Concerns
My PCV was replaced by Audi but I needed to pay, my car was whistling like hell
