Anybody have a Valve Body I can "borrow" please?

Post by Mr Footlong » Tue Sep 05, 2023 7:34 am

Hi guys

As the gearbox is being rebuilt, along with a replacement Torque Converter (have had one spare in a box for years) that is being sent to Level10 to be uprated, I want to get the Valve Body done too as makes sense to me. It is the TC that went, but I want the box totally redone too as why not.....

I will be getting a Level 10 gearbox rebuild kit sent across with the rebuilt TC, but currently, the only Valve Body I have is still attached to my 90k miles car and it won't be coming off until closer to the end of the month I am told.

Does anybody have a Valve Body from a knackered that they can part with for a few weeks to send to Level10 until I can get mine removed and sent to you as a replacement? There were no known issues with my Valve Body when I parked her up for the last time.

Worth an ask as will save time with the restoration project, thanks!

CheeRS,

Nick :).

Footlong,
Great to see you've still got your car and are getting it restored.
Will be interesting to get your feedback on level 10.
Best Wishes
Ric

Thanks, by that statement, am I to assume that you could provide it for me to send away to get redone/uprated :D? Do you happen to have an idea of roughly how many miles the box was on that it was attached to and as far as you know, it is in good enough condition to rework?

Will of course pay for any shipping costs, happy to pay you for your time helping me out and of course paying to send my one back to you as soon as the box if off the car.

Yes mate i can, off the top of my head I think the box has done 120k and the reason it was pulled was to put the engine in “rs6” t25 transporter but I’m pretty sure it’s the output shaft that’s broken as there’s no drive and the TC was fine(was told this by the guys in Germany when I sent it for uprating) so should be more than good enough for you to use.

I will say this when I was looking to get gearbox parts uprating in the states they were a pain to deal with and the turn around times were months as apposed to days with the guys I went with in Germany

Morning, only just seen this. Footlong, I have a VB from a 80k gb. It’s recently been flow tested for wear. Solenoids tested and the Transgo valve installed PRV. Done by a UK VB specialist and is good to go if you’re still stuck? Had two done at the same time.

Captain Cowpat, if Footers doesn't want your VB I would like it please. I currently have the annoying PRNDS fault and code 18243 back with a vengence :(

That’s no problem. I had the two done, ones on the car and the other is a spare. Send me a dm?

Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth again, I spent the last two weeks solid clearing out my darling hoarder mum's 3-storey townhouse pretty well solo at short notice and was destroyed, lol.

I got a sh!t list as long as my arm back from RD Garage last night and the realities of trying to get her back on the road are just not a road that I want to put us down financially, regardless of how much we love the car. Hopefully someone else can benefit from your kind offers guys, thanks again!

That's a pity. What's the major work that needs doing? Gearbox?
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper
"The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair."

See here dude - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=144057&start=15#p974718

Add in me wanting to refurbish/uprate the turbos while she is out, re-doing everything on the gearbox as I wouldn't want to skimp on anything and the sheer hassle involved in trying to get all of those cats herded regarding parts etc. I have to be realistic. Work is more demanding than ever and my little ADHD brain would get too distracted with sorting this as it interests me and work doesn't....
