Car back from cosmetics & Audi Heritage check

Post by stevo55 » Sat Feb 12, 2022 10:02 pm

Forgot to post at the time-got the car back from Jules Sturgess Automotive near Cambridge and they did a cracking job-keen price as well and highly recommended.
Front and side PPF including lights
Rear tints
All Chrome wrapped.
Car looks the part even more now:

Also finally got round to chasing up the background to the car as it was privately owned by Audi until mid last year.
Spoke to ‘Audi Heritage’ who are Salisbury based I think and the car was what they called a ‘Static Demonstrator’ at their place. Basically it sat there as a showpiece and wasn’t used apart from the occasional drive and owned directly by Audi UK.
This explains why at its 3 year MOT in 2018 the car had done all of 637 miles….and then each successive year it did around 150 miles until 2021 where it had done a massive 945 miles Image
A true ‘Garage Queen’!
Current miles are 3700 which ain’t too shabby for a car from Nov 2015. Its nice to own something with some true pedigree linked to Audi but the trouble is I’m a bit captive to the mileage so it doesn’t get driven often. Went for oil service yesterday (they cheekily asked if I wanted to change the spark plugs which were 6 years/40k miles….I told them it hasn’t even done 4K miles yet so not going to bother) and they said it was the cleanest car that wasn’t new they’d seen.
I’m about done with extras now…toying with a Milltek but it doesn’t get driven often and want to keep it as stock as I can. Tuning or similar would feel like a crime on this one. Others may disagree I’m sure, but this is the most ‘special’ performance car I’ve ever owned to date so want to keep it as pure as possible.

Hi Stevo55, good to see that the great work continues.

Everything you’ve done to the car has really paid off, I must admit I was doubtful at first with some of the things you were planning, a much deserved well done, it looks amazing and very tasteful, just what it should have been like when it rolled off the production line.

I can see this one going into a private collection when you decide to sell.

Absolutely lovely.

That is a truly amazing car, see you are as much an Audi guyas a BMW one. I also owned an E34 M5 (well 3, including a 1995 one) and an Alpina B8, would have loved a Roadster though!
My mind changed drastically about Audi after I drove/purchased the RS6 C7.
Thanks
J

Thanks mate and am sure you’ll be happy she’s being well cared for and seems to be my own ‘static demonstrator’ now albeit under a car cover.
Hope alls well your end.

I’m a ‘great car’ fan as opposed to a single marque and have to say many of the dedicated ‘fanboys’ I have seen tend to have a very blinkered view and overly defensive of ‘their’ brand.
BMW make amazing cars and I’ve owned a few clearly. Alpina have that extra exclusivity which is a nice touch. It pains me that M Division have lost their way with the new M3/4 and the styling (yes that grille) I just cannot get used to. Don’t get me started on the EV’s…..they can try and bamboozle people with cars that change colour (what a gimmick) but ignore the fact that it looks hideous.
Audi seem to have the right idea. The C7 is (luckily for us) massively holding its value. I wouldn’t say no to a C8 of course but they don’t seem to have gripped the public like the C7 etc.
I personally don’t think the ‘Car Wow’ drag race videos have don’t it any favours and also shows how far BMW and Mercedes have advanced in this side of the market.

I think I am at the end of this process now, i.e. coming out of being a BMW fan boy due to the C7, mainly...and becoming a car guy with a slant towards Ze Germans.
Thanks
