Thanks for the reply, is this pump something I can replace myself? Where would it be located?

I did have some codes on 2 doors not locking actually but they unlock with the key so ignored it.

Cheers I'll have a play tomorrow.

One thing I wanted to ask everyone is how best to drive to preserve the gearbox?

It was replaced 40k ago, wondering if I'm best using paddles or not using kickdown too often?
Matty,

Welcome to the club.

As others have said, get gearbox serviced regularly and from my experience try to resist urge to do high power blast offs from standstill in 1st. Warm it up and cool it down, drive it sympathetically and with a bit of luck it will last a long time. But gearbox components are consumable and won't last for ever. I tend to use the paddles, but don't know if there is any evidence to suggest that's any better than auto.

Golden rule is to always be moving already before using more than light throttle and don't do harsh things with it. Progressive rather than stamping on a tarantula.

I replaced the SAI a few years ago. Absolute waste of money as the second one filled with water and died as well after a couple of years only. They're quite expensive. Better mapped out and all disconnected and tidied away. Just make sure the map work is good and keeps the emissions low and the cats protected as well as possible.

An absolute must. Warm the engine up before you have a spirited drive. I like to see my oil temp gauge rise and settle before I use my right foot in earnest.
Also let the car cool down before you switch off and park up after a quick drive.
The PO and Members on here gave me that recommendation years ago. And I follow it religiously.

Ben. The central locking won’t safe and won’t de safe errors on my central auto locking still remains.
However I have recently enquired to obtain 4 replacement door locks and a control module.

In the meantime my auto locking still works until it logs 6 errors. Then stops working. I have to clear the faults using VCDS. The auto lock then works again.
For now I just clear the faults every time it stops Working until I can get it sorted.

Driving to work this morning and the engine management light comes on - only had it a week!

Will scan when I get back and report.

Hoping it's nothing major but it's under warranty for another 3 weeks.

I've done a scan and it looks like the MIL light was turned on due to that secondary air injection issue. It's also thrown up some new ones relating to the MAF and some on an error message from ECU. These didn't come up last time. I've cleared all codes and and the lights off.

Anything anyones experienced before?

I've got 3 weeks warranty left and wonder whether I should ring them about it or wait for the MIL light to come back on.

The car drives normally...

I'd have a look at the MAF wiring. It can get brittle with heat and age.

If you've got a SAI problem then you could also have a vac leak which would throw off your mixture, but I wouldn't expect those error codes. Both banks, though, which is slightly odd. Could just be down to air flow from the SAI. It needs to be sorted. The code will keep coming back. Fix one thing at a time because some faults can cause others.

What does the warranty cover? Who underwrites it? Or is it not a proper warranty, just an agreement with the vendor? In which case unless you've got something written down then good luck.

Thanks for your reply, I'll wait for the MIL to come back on then rescan.

Washed it today and thought I'd take some pictures as I've only shown 1 dark picture. I love the colour, it seems to change depending on the light.

Looks really nice Matty.
Almost a completely failure free mot history.
The only failure was for incorrectly spaced letters on the front and rear number plates. And headlight aim.
Very unusual for a car of this age and mileage. I am impressed and quite frankly very jealous ?

Also I think that mini was reported as a accomplice for a gold bullion robbery a while back in Italy.

Cheers mate. Yes the mot history is the best I've had on a car I've bought - must count for something!

Re the Mini, I don't know what your talking about...
