Oil leak continues
Re: Oil leak continues
I've had some of the cheap USB ones. Important to get a 1080 or 720 definition one - but other than that, they're cheap enough be almost disposable.

Hi Steve ,
Had large oil leak last year with mine and turns out oil feed pipe that runs between both turbo chargers was leaking for a while and travels over the top of gearbox and was causing all sorts of electrical issues as well and had a multi plug full of oil around the same area at top of gearbox near the leak and garage said engine out once they used camera to locate and view leak coming from a metal cable tie used by Audi when building the car had been the area where my leak was coming from , hopefully yours is not the case and you might get lucky as you can get to crush washers on the banjo bolts both sides without dropping engine but there is a lot to remove to get to them , tried to find the feed pipe everywhere at a cost of £900 but struggled to find part but manage to find second hand pipe and asked garage to examine pipe condition and if ok install with new crush washers and went to town whilst engine was out new seals top to bottom, plugs ,cam gaskets new gearbox sump and filter and Wagner’s .
Scott.

Re: Oil leak continues
If anyone has that pipe fail. KEEP IT. The pipe itself is stainless braided teflon, but the hard line end bits are a complex shape and need to be very precise.
So I think if push comes to shove, as long as you have the hard line bits, you could have a new flex pipe swaged on.

Thank you all for the response. And endoscope on order is the 1080 resolution with hand held screen.
Was only £38:00 worth a try at that price.
Will be glad to get to the bottom of it.
General diagnosis is the turbo oil feed pipe.
But it would be great if we can actually confirm it.

Which one did you get?
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

Re: Oil leak continues
Wow. For £38 quid I am amazed at the picture quality.
I can see me having hours of fun with this under the bonnet.
Thank you All for the heads up. This is a great bit of kit.
Hopefully we can now pinpoint and confirm where the leak is. And then get it sorted.
Took a while to figure out what each button does. And how to use it. But once you know, it is very simple to operate.
The instructions are all in Chinese.

Re: Oil leak continues
I’ve got a sneaky feeling this is the news I’m going to get this week, as grizz did mention it was very damp under that area, and if it has got all over the gearbox etc then that’s why eventually it’s give up on me , I’m so hoping it’s not engine out I really am , and Steve you will find the solution eventually, sounds like a great bit of kit , I would purchase one but I dread to know what the next problem will beScotia wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 7:20 pmHi Steve ,

Re: Oil leak continues
Barry mine too. I do think that my leak is the turbo feed pipe. Going to use the camera to see if we can confirm it.
As I have said many times. It is not a bad leak but it is enough to need sorting.
Going to enjoy playing with the camera and having a good look round the inaccessible nooks and crannies.
Hope you get your problem sorted asap so you can get back to enjoying the car.

Keep the faith guys. They need some loving now and again, but every time I turn the ignition key and hear that V8, it makes it all worth it.

Re: Oil leak continues
Matt. My wallet has been well and truly emptied on a regular basis for the last two years. Suffice to say I am expecting a Christmas card from Neston this year ?
Ps you might be onto something. As every time I have a full wallet Christine says I want all of it.

Re: Oil leak continues
Hope you have some good news Barry from unit 20.
Scary moments over here.
Tornado hit us. Caravans turned over
House Roofs badly damaged. Fences demolished.
Thankfully we were ok and no damage to our property but some households not so lucky.
And before you ask. Yes this is the UK I am talking about. On the east coast.
